Correct count of Visitor Report in SiteCatalyst

Hi All,

If a person comes to a website on two different browsers from the same computer (as identified by SiteCatalyst) , should this be counted as one visit or two separate visits? As per my understanding, this should be counted as only one visit. And if indeed it is to counted as one visit only for accurate reporting,  then do we have this calculation built into SiteCatalyst or not.

If not, then I would like to submit it as an improvement idea to be included in StieCatalyst and may be other products in the Suite too.

Please advise!

SiteCatalyst doesn't have a view into the computer but only the browser. This is thanks to the scope of JavaScript. If a user accesses the site in two different browsers on the same computer not only will they be counted as separate visits, but separate visitors too.

One way around this would be to use a device fingerprinting technology like BlueCava, but I wouldn't expect this to be integrated directly into SiteCatalyst ... unless Adobe buys BlueCava.

This was the only reason why this idea was floated. If we can have this functionality integrated into SiteCatalyst, then this will give the users of this tool a clearer picture on the number of visitors and other associated reports. It is a common habit on consumers part to log into two separate browsers while visiting a site (mainly an e-commerce one) while buying a product.

Also, if we can have count of the tabs on a browser, it will also eliminate the duplicity of visits and give us the correct count.

What say???
