Adobe Experience Manager Guides

Hi community, A colleague of mine recently returned from the Adobe conference and shared that they spoke with several users who advocated against using content reuse. I attended the conference the year prior, and my experience was quite the opposite. I met many users who were using content reuse effectively and shared great success stories. So I wanted to bring the question here: Are there other organizations (especially in highly regulated or complex industries) effectively using content reuse in Adobe Experience Manager? Thanks in advance for your insights!

Hello - I am new to AEM Guides and I have encountered an error when publishing with conditions - Installed AEM Guides 4.4.0.40- Created a Map- Imported the dita file WritingWell.dita from https://experienceleague.adobe.com/en/docs/experience-manager-guides-learn/videos/output-generation/publishing-with-conditions and followed the instructions in applying conditions.  Encountered error:

I have been struggling to identify an answer to this question via documentation or previous posts.  Our users are finding the behavior of this search box in Guides confusing / unhelpful in comparison to, say, the Assets search.   Is it possible to change/configure what is searched via a query within this search box specifically?  From testing, searches performed within this search box do not cover the range of properties or within the content that the Assets search does. Near as I can tell, this search is more limited to terms present in file names and/or titles.    However, users do not want to leave Guides to find what they need and then have to navigate back into Guides to work on it.  Ideally for our users, they would be able to search here and get hits within the DITA map/topic content. Note that I am familiar with the instructions at https://experienceleague.adobe.com/en/docs/experience-manager-guides/using/install-guide

Hello All,I’m facing an issue when attempting to send Topics created in AEM Guide for translation. Here’s a breakdown of the situation and the errors encountered, along with some observations: Issue Summary:When trying to translate Topics created directly in AEM Guide, the workflow fails, producing errors related to missing nodes and XML processing. Specifically, the Elements node is absent in the jcr:content of these Topics, which might be impacting the translation workflow.Error Details:During the translation process, these are some of the errors I’m seeing:1. Error Loading Destination Language:com.day.cq.dam.commons.util.DamLanguageUtil Failed to load destination language from payload2. XML Processing Error:com.adobe.fmdita.exception.ApplicationException: Failed to process XMLNode with path /content/dam/projects/translation_output/.../Training.dita/jcr:content/elements does not exist. This `PathNotFoundException` suggests that the translation job is looking for an `elements` nod

Hello all,We have httpd.conf file added to the dispatcher codebase base and the changes are not updating through code pipeline.  All the files are updated through code pipeline except httpd.conf file. Please find below file updated dates, also the user rights also same as other files.  Please suggest if this required any additional configurations.

One of our customer requirements is to construct a ‘Contact Information’ block of addresses on the back page. They don’t want to hardcode this in a table in a topic. We'll have a template with an empty, single row, table and we'd dynamically expand the table based on the required number of address blocks. They want to store each address block in a bookmeta/authorinformation/organizationinfo block and then to format this content and inject it into a cell per address. The number of address organizationinfo blocks will vary by publication, and the information in an organizationinfo block will vary.Because of this variability, using the provided method to create variables from this metadata does not seem to be ideal or efficient. Since the variables are text-only, if we create a variable from the organizationinfo element as a whole we lose all the internal structure. We were hoping for an HTML structure that retained the internal structure and provided us with something we can manipulate in Ja

Guides allows the ability to view the differences between versions of the same topic. In this view there are red and green bars indicating additions and deletions. They are displayed side by side in the left margin in the location the change was made.In Native PDF you can do this too, and there are OOTB templates with styles to display the bars. However, the green bar, unlike in the Guides editor, always overwrites the red bar. The only styles that I see for this bar are as follows:.inserted-change-bar { -ro-change-bar-color: #2ECC40; } .deleted-change-bar { -ro-change-bar-color: #FF6961; }I tried to add a margin to one of them but it did not work. How can I offset one of the bars so that they both display when a line has both an addition and a deletion?

Hello everyone - I am doing some work with AEM Guides, customizing the workflow but I am encountering NullPointerException on Create Review tasks. I searched through the online documentation, but I'm not finding instructions for defining fonts by language. For example, for all our Native PDF Publishing outputs, we're using Arial. It is looking like I need to assign the following languages to different fonts:Simplified Chinese: MicrosoftJhengHeiUITraditional Chinese: MicrosoftJhengHeiUI Some of the punctuation for Simplified Chinese is correct with the correct spacing, but our outputs are using the European double-quote spacing instead of the wider Chinese spacing. When I copy/paste from a translated PDF into Word, the text is in a mix of MS Gothic, Arial, and MicrosoftJhengHeiUI. The fonts embedded in the PDF include Nanum Gothic (which is supposed to be for Korean?). I know where the language mapping/aliasing is done for our older DITA-OT system, but I'm not seeing the settings for AEM Guides with Native PDF Publishing. What am I missing? Where are the fonts for Asian languages defined for Native PDF Publishi

Does anyone have a glossary/glossentry best practices for translations? The glossentries work great in the source language (English) when we integrate the terms into the text. The glossary entries also create a glossary in the PDF as expected in English. However, for languages where nouns change form (I know conjugate is the wrong word, but it is the closest I can think of) depending on how the term is used in the sentence, the glossary term no longer works as intended. The only thing I can think to do is to remove the glossary term (link) from the sentence and list it at the end of the topic something like, "Glossary Terms Used: glossentry1, glossentry2," where the link is in the topic, but not embedded within the sentence. This, however, would look really awkward in a PDF output. How are glossary entries supposed to be used for translated documents?

Hello,Map-level Search and Replace is returning 0 results all the time. Our UUID version AEM Guides (4.6.0.3). I tried below steps.1. reindexed the /oak:index/lucene2. reindexed /oak:index/damAssetLucene

I want to edit an image directly within the AEM editor by selecting a portion of the image and adding elements like borders and polygons. I prefer not to use a different application for these edits and would like to know how to apply them directly in AEM. And save once borders added. For example I want to put a border for the below image,

Hi Team,we want to provide the feature to download the previous version to user with out reverting, earlier AEM team suggested something we need to customize it.please share AEM guides side we have any specific recommendation or any latest documentation to implement this approach.https://experience-aem.blogspot.com/2021/03/aem-6580-assets-download-version-from-timeline.html

I am working on an Adobe Guides set-up project and I have not been able to find any documentation about how to import an MS Word document and have it be ingested and converted to a working DITA file with Adobe Guides. Is there any documentation posted about this? It is touted as a feature of the application, but there does not appear to be any information about it, nor does it "just work" with the platform. Thank you for any insight!

Hello Team , I have a requirement to create new "News Articles" (News Pages with only Images & Text assembled via 2/3 layouts) on AEM.  The content would be provided by the marketing team in Word. Currently the content Authors copy paste the data from word to create the pages. Is there a way to do the above activity programmatically ?  Currently we have AEM managed service 6.5 Document based Edge Is DITA the only way to achieve this ? If yes do we have any documentation for a step-by-step guide to implement the above functionality.ThanksHarish

Hello, Good Day!I am looking for a public website which uses a AEM Dynamic Media with 3d Assets to test its effectiveness over the site. (My client is considering the use of AEM Dynamic Media for 3d Assets and I want to study it)Does anyone knows any site which has the same implementation? If yes please let me know. I understand the information may be confidential so I am looking for the public sites only. I have checked few of the sites which uses AEM and might be using the AEM Dynamic Media with 3D assets, i listed them below. But I did not found anything useful.https://www.lockheedmartin.com/https://www.hp.com/https://www.ford.com/https://www.gm.com/https://www.rockwellautomation.com/

Is there a way to change the Translation Status of objects in AEM Guides? If we send something out for translation, and the quote is rejected, how can we change the Translation Status of all assets back to either "out of sync" or "missing copy"?I canceled the Translation Project, but that hasn't changed the status of the objects. Do I just need to wait longer/overnight? Or does canceling the Project not affect the translation status? Versions: AEM Guides (UUID) 4.3.1.390 On-Prem Installation (Jan 15 2024)AEM 6.5.19 (Service Pack 19) On-Prem Installation (Jan 15 2024)

Whenever I try to add an email link to a topic in the Guides Web Editor, I get a "FAILED TO SAVE FILE" error. Below is my code. This code comes straight from the Guides Web Editor Toolbar "Insert email link" button. I've check the docs also and the code appears to be correct. Any ideas why Guides will not save this? <xref href="mailto:PM@faa.gov" scope="external">PM@faa.gov</xref>

Hello! I've run into an issue with links in Nitro PDF reader from Native PDF AEM output. When I have two links on the same line, like www.google.com and www.amazon.com, Nitro PDF seems to treat the entire line as the same link "block" and both URLs end up the same. In the case above, clicking on the Amazon link would take the user to Google. I'm not having this issue in Adobe Acrobat. This issue also does not occur when I output from DITA OT. Is this related to the way Native PDF parses links on output? Are there any options for a fix from the AEM side? We are on the current version of on-prem AEM and Guides. I believe the PDF readers are up-to-date, as well. Thanks for your help!Josh

We make updates to our PDF plugins to support new languages or fix formatting issues. We test these changes locally before deploying the update to our instances. I would prefer to run the local tests using the data command, as this is the supported option for the DITA-OT. Is it possible to configure the DITA Profile in Guides to do the same? Thanks!

Using Guides 4.01 non UUID with both FM as an editor and the Guides interface. When inserting xrefs using FM (insert <xref> element), an outputclass is assigned automatically to the xref, which dynamically links that xref to its point of reference. (In this case, a table note. As a result, these xrefs are automatically numbered to the corresponding table note.) Is there a way to create xrefs in Guides to dynamically number like this (so when using xrefs in table footnotes, the number it’s referencing is automatically applied)? This seems to work in FM but not Guides (Guides does not assign the outputclass that FM does). Example xref as constructed in FM: <xref outputclass="fm:Figure with Number" href=#concept_xxx/xxx"/>
