View and Filter - Save on Dashboard

Hi there - I have copied a dashboard from another user, saved it, and applied existing View / Filter for this - however each time I leave that page and come back it is using the Report Default for both the View and the Filter - what could I be missing (this is to show projects by Program).

I'm not sure if it would help in this situation, but you can set default filters and views on dashboards in the layout templates.
