User unable to add tasks to proejcts

I have a user who is unable to add tasks above/below a selected task. When they select a task the icons don't appear. Ditto when they select a task and the 3 dots (edit). They only way they can add a task is via New Task. They have manage access to the projects and planner licence. Other users are able to do this so i figure it must be something to do with their set up.

Often when this happens, it's because the column sort isn't set to the row ID (first column) or a filter is applied to the list. It looks like - from the arrow in your screenshot - that the column is used for the sort, so is it possible that the user has a filter applied to the list?

Thanks for the suggestion. The user has no filters applied. I'm stumped!

What happens when the user clicks the Add Task button at the top? Are they able to add tasks to the project?

Typically, sorting or filtering/grouping has been applied if the "Add More Tasks" button at the bottom is gone but the New Task button is visible at the top.

If the user can add tasks through the new task button, and has confirmed no filters/groupings are applied then I would reach out to support so they can click into your actual instance to troubleshoot.

@charlieham Hi there, just checking in. Were you able to get this resolved? If one of the replies above helped, even if it didn’t fully solve the issue but pointed you in the right direction, marking it as accepted can still guide others who may face a similar question. And if you discovered another way to fix it, sharing your approach would be a big help to the community. Your follow-up not only closes the loop but also ensures others benefit from your experience. Thanks again for being part of the conversation!

Hi. We did get this resolved but the replies didn't help solve the issue so I haven't marked one as accepted.
