Project status does not stay in order

I followed the instructions to order the project statuses system wide. However when I go to a project and click on the Status drop down, the statuses are not in the order that I made. Any ideas on what is happening?

I'm not sure if it's possible to order the project statuses, system wide. Which instructions are you following?

I can only order project statuses per group. So I would probably ask you to check your group project status order, and then check that the project's group field contains that same group.

I have been looking into this, too. I was going to go into the group statuses, and rename them with 01, 02, 03, and so on, for the other in which ours run in a project, somewhat like this.

01 Backlog

02 Planning

03 In progress

04 etc

Has anyone tried numbering statuses to get them to show up in order like that?
