Is there a way to have an approval workflow on a request that switches the request status from "New" to "In Progress" instead of "Closed"?

We have a case where a team wants to be able to approve/reject requests coming in, but after they have been approved it should sit in "in progress" while the request is fulfilled, and then the person managing the request would close it out by just marking "Complete". If the request is "rejected" it should automatically move to a Rejected (custom) status. Is this possible to do? Thank you!

    Hi Olivia,

    You can configure the approval process to choose which status will trigger the approval process and also what status should be applied if the approval is rejected. Please see screen shot below:
