Please upvote this idea! I think it's the most critical missing notification -- there is nothing clear that tells a person that the predecessor is done and they need to start working on their next task. Please upvote this!! It has 18 already, please help me get it to 100 so they do it right away. :) "https://support.workfront.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/115001946728-New-Notification-Rule-Task-I-am-assigned-to-becomes-Ready-to-Start-?page=1#community_comment_360000592114" Ready to Start P.S. I can't figure out how to make this link smaller. Jill Ackerman

Hi Allison Thank you for putting this thread together. Here is one I created early last year and we have 39 votes.. so close!!!! @Karen Marck , thank you for the push. "https://support.workfront.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/115007377313-User-Costs-by-Roles-Rates-with-specific-time-periods?page=1#community_comment_360000594853">USER COSTS BY ROLES/RATES WITH SPECIFIC TIME PERIODS The current ability in WF is very limited to controlling rates for specific time periods. We need the ability to manages all types of rates & roles for specific time periods. That could be a user hourly cost rate, a role based cost rate, etc. Michael Lebowitz GuideWell Connect

Michael, I'm glad I'm not the only seeing this as a serious issue. Being able to track user data over time (role, rate, cost, manager, company) is essential for accurate calculations and reporting. We only launched Workfront a month ago so we haven't had role changes yet, but we will have promotions in May and I'm very concerned with managing data quality once users are updated to their new roles. Hi Karen (and Michael), If there's interest, this might be worth a separate thread, but just in case you or other readers aren't aware... One common approach to solve for the concept of rates that change (periodically) over time within Workfront is to create "https://support.workfront.com/hc/en-us/articles/216744788-Creating-Billing-Records">Billing Records on a suitable cadence (e.g. weekly, monthly, ad-hoc etc.) and mark them as Billed in order to "locks in" the hours and rate, even for non-billable time. You can then safely change the rates to their new values, which will then "kick in" going forward. Regards, Doug Doug Den Hoed - AtAppStore Got Skills? Doug I am 100% in agreement with you about using billing records. We are just starting to use them this year and it will be very useful. However.... From a reporting perspective I still believe this is needed. I would like to see how the job role costs (Actual & Billable) change over time. I am sure it would be possible to pull the values from the hours history and with some manipulating either via text mode or just exporting to excel I could theorize/derive what those values would have been. In my humble opinion, wouldn't it just be easier to maintain a separate list/table of 50 records per year instead of having to pull a report that in our case would require pulling 100,000 lines (per year) of hour entries ?? Indeed it would Michael; hence the worthy Idea Exchange request for full support of date effective rates. Until that hits prime time, another suggestion is to maintain a Project (eg "2018 Rates") with one Task per person per rate change (eg "Doug Den Hoed Jan 2018; then a second called Doug Den Hoed July 2018), each assigned to the Respective Person (e.g. Doug Den Hoed) with the effective rate at the time (e.g. Jan @ $195/hr, billing record, billed; then July when that time comes, at $225/hr, not yet billing-record-ed until the next round of rate changes, etc). In this manner (with zero hour tasks, mind you), it then becomes relatively easy to create an Assignment report that trends rates for everyone over time. Interesting... Would that logic work if you are looking at rates by role? We don't store rates for the person. Michael Lebowitz Marketing Analyst Michael.Lebowitz@guidewellconnect.com T 904-436-4240 | M 904-200-1364 Fax 904-565-6156 4800 Deerwood Campus Pkwy DCC 800-4-272 Jacksonville, FL 32246

Fair comment Michael, For a Roles Only scenario, I would use the same concept, but create a proxy user called "Every Role" (first name, last name) assigned to - wait for it - every role, and on the 2018 Project, create one Task per Role (names accordingly; eg "Jan 2018 Project Manager") and assign the "Every Role" user to it with the appropriate Role (eg 100% Project Manager). The rest of the story is the same as the user based first edition. Regards, Doug Doug Den Hoed - AtAppStore Got Skills? Lend a hand! https://community.workfront.com/participate/unanswered-threads

That could work or.. (This is what happens when I work more than 12 hours in a day.) I would at this point just have an excel sheet that has this info and include columns for the 32digit ID from WF for that role and for the person. Anytime I make a change I just create a new line in excel with the dates of the change. When I need to compare to data in Workfront I would just do an export and then in excel via Vlookup get the date changes. Remembering I am approaching the "13th hour" this sounds perfectly logical in mind. Field of dreams reference or for those biblical scholars, God said to Noah.. "If Workfront builds it they will use it"!! Just posted this in the idea exchange. "https://support.workfront.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/360001733673-Custom-Form-Layout" title="Custom form Layouts">Custom-Form-Layout I was surprised to not find this already in the idea exchange. Maybe its because I am on my 13th hour today.. so if this is duplicate please accept my apologies. One thing I have been very frustrated with custom forms is how the data fields are displayed once the form is rendered. In the custom form setup you basically have two options, do I want this field to be next to the one before it or do I want it to be underneath it. If you get too many side by side fields then it rolls over to the next line anyway. Even Microsoft Access lets you design custom forms on a grid. At least with dashboards you have the option of choosing some basic layouts (see image). Would it be so difficult to give us the same layout options for custom forms? So I humbly submit this idea - "Custom Form layouts". If you feel as frustrated with the look and feel of your custom forms I would appreciate your votes! I have a complex project with multiple parallel paths that are close to the critical path. I really need to be able to see the days of float for the tasks on my project. Would you please upvote my request? Here is the link and details. https://support.workfront.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/360002029654-Add-Field-for-Days-of-Float-or-S... Note:The Float Date doesn't calculate correctly. There is another request to fix that. Therese

Upvoted. While we're talking detailed Project Management fields I'll pimp my feature request to fix the SPI index. It's currently incorrect because it does not use the Baseline. So it's basically useless. Please upvote if you'd like to see this field yield the correct results. I get this request a lot when managers want to see what projects their team members are on. Especially creatives. Large projects have so many tasks/assignments that reports from that level are unmanageable. I do use DCNT to count projects on those reports, but that is unstable. This would be an easy fix! Show names instead of IDs in Show Filters. - How many times have you clicked on show filters and seen some ID and still have to go into edit mode to see what's being filtered? Can we please see the name of the object instead of the ID? So much more usable, such a little change. Create a collection of users under the job role object. - I can quickly report on members of a group or team, but not users assigned to a role in a role report. This would make it easier to understand who is listed in each job role. Allow aggregating of strings COUNT and DCNT in standard view columns. - You can currently only aggregate on numeric columns, so reference numbers instead of names. Let's put count and distinct count as aggregation on string columns without TEXT mode. And please put DCNT in standard workfront instead of hiding it. You often need to see how many distinct objects you have instead of counting objects. Update object names in mobile apps and notifications. - It's confusing to users if projects are called Jobs in standard Workfront and Projects on the app. Ability to set defaults and limits on custom dates - Custom dates can currently be set to ANY date and this can cause all sorts of problems, from wrong century, to custom due dates being set in the past, to weekends, to anything. Can we have a calculated default and date range made available: like this date can be set as $$TODAYb+2w-$$TODAYe+4w to give users a logical date range to choose. Allow graphing of calculated fields and/or allow calculated custom fields on hours objects - Hours are generally a key reporting type, but the ability to put hours on different objects and the lack of ability to include custom fields or calculations can make matrix and graphs a bit of a nightmare. Please extend calculations to HOURS. Even if it's just the ability to grab the custom field that's on the closest object. If I have the same field on a project, task and issue then I should be able to say parent.MyField and report on it! -- Melinda Layten, Senior Consultant Work Management Improvement CapabilitySource - 2018 Workfront Partner of the Year Phone: (484) 505-6855 site: www.capabilitysource.com email: melinda.layten@capabilitysource.com Helpful? Thank you for posting this thread, Alison! I am repeatedly hearing from our users that modifying documents in Workfront is too cumbersome. We need the ability to modify without having to download the document (similar to SharePoint or Google Docs). I found an item out in the Idea Exchange that speaks exactly to what we are looking for. If your teams could benefit, please up vote. Do your project managers complain about how long it takes to enter in all the detail needed in their project schedules (tasks, broken out by assignees, and then distributing plan hours to each assignee)??? If yes, please see link below to Idea Exchange and UPVOTE!!! https://support.workfront.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/115006601593-Quickly-Adding-Planned-Hours-To-...
