External users and Admin Console - is an AdobeID necessary to click on email links?

Hello everybody,

I know that the external users will be moved to the admin console, for example from here
Do external users migrate to Admin Console? - Adobe Experience League Community - 720388

But there's an aspect I have to understand to do the proper communication with these users:

our external users are approving documents in a simple workflow where they get an email and a link to the document to proof.

So they never have to sign in.

Now, when moved to the Admin Console, they will receive an automatic email stating that they need to create an Adobe ID to authenticate.

My question is: is this necessary in the described use case?

Thank you
Kind regards

Sébastien

My experience is similar.  I don't believe these user types need licenses but I've seen issues with these users not being able to cleanly access proofs or getting access errors.  My remedy has been to provide the free license and set them up in adminconsole to avoid issues and make things easier for them for future reviews. The long-term for Adobe is to have everything via the adminconsole for managing users.

Hi @Kurt_Jones ,
thanks for your answer.

OK, good to know that it can cause problems when the proof users are not in the admin console, but my question was about the need for a user (and let's say now: already registered in the admin console) to create an Adobe ID in the first place?

Do you know that?
I don't want to ask all of them to create Adobe IDs if it's not necessary to access the proof pages via email links.

Thanks

Kind regards

Sebastien,

There shouldn't be a need/issue with folks having to create an Adobe ID, however,  in my use case example, I did add some outside agency users with their Adobe ID to our instance that were having issues with working proofs and the issues seemed to resolve once that occurred....most I've not had to do that...but haven't figured out why it worked with these folks, it was a last resort try and it seemed to work so wanted to point it out, if it helps.
