Canvas Dashboard-Level Filters Not Working

Avatar

Community Advisor

Hi Workfront Community! Has anyone tried the new dashboard-level filters for Canvas yet? If so, were you able to get them to work? I've tried a couple different options and no luck (trying to see if I'm doing something wrong)?

From my limited testing, I was able to get the dashboard filters/prompts to work for reports that I created while in Canvas Dashboard. If I added an existing report that was created in the standard report , the filter would not apply to that report.

Hi there, I've used them, sometimes can be buggy (it just got released to beta 8.25), but I've had success generally. Something that threw me at first was not clicking the 'Set Filter' button after adding a filter group. Set Filter is basically Save. Did you do that? What issue are you having specifically?

Thanks for getting back to me Madalyn!

Where would I see "Set Filter" - I think I'm missing? I put a screenshot in, really just trying to add a prompt with a project custom form field but it won't filter down on results (have tried others, even basic things like project name contains) and can't get it to go (feel like I'm just missing something though).Setup.jpgUsing Filter.jpg

Ah gotcha yeah 'set filter' is only for adding (saving) dashboard filters, not prompts. One thing I'm seeing from your screenshot is it shows 'show records where....' - did you select a Planning field and not a WF field? When you go to select a field for a prompt, choose Workfront Objects for non-Planning/Workflow fields and Planning Record Types for Planning fields. If you're looking for a project custom form field, then use the Workfront Objects selection. If you're selecting the right thing and still don't see a field you should be able to select, I'd open a Support ticket.

Ah, yeah, have it set to the Workfront Object type. Must just be buggy, will submit a ticket. Thanks for being the other set of eyes on this! Appreciate it.

That’s correct, they only work with reports created in Canvas, not bringing in an existing report into Canvas. This is the intended functionality, not a bug.

That was where I was going wrong - thank you so much @AliPen (I didn't see this noted in the documentation and was trying everything with existing reports).
