Workfront native fields are available in the form designer beta - include Subject field

Description - I like the enhancement where we can now include native fields on the custom form.  I would like to see the subject field be available as well.

Why is this feature important to you - At my organization, users submit a request to activate their campaigns.  Those requests are automatically converted to projects through Fusion.  We actually would like the Subject field removed, but since that is not possible we would like to be able to use the subject field as the Program Name or Project Name.  We also have a field on our custom form that asks you for your Program Name or Project Name, so it can be redundant to have both fields, so if the user enters their Program Name or Project Name in the subject field, it would be nice to have that automatically applied to our custom field.

How would you like the feature to work - Similar to how the description field now works, where whatever the user types in the description field is also available in custom description field.

Current Behaviour - Currently, users have to enter a subject line which is also usually the same information required on a custom field we have as well, so it can be redundant to have to copy and paste the subject line into the custom field on our form.

I've tested this in my instance, and if you recreate your custom field as a native field tied to the request name, the request Subject line does copy into it.

Per @skyehansen's comment, I am marking this ideas as delivered as the subject field and custom field update as you type in a request queue.

Hi @skyehansen - Thanks for your response!  I may have to see what you are doing.

The subject line on a new request cannot be removed or replaced by a custom form field.  I confirmed this with Workfront Support, so that's why I am entering it as an idea so that I can be able to use the subject field as a custom field.  Currently, that feature is only available to native fields in Workfront and the subject field is not included according to Workfront Support.

Thank you,

Melanie

Where you said, "if the user enters their Program Name or Project Name in the subject field, it would be nice to have that automatically applied to our custom field." -- create the native field, set the reference as "Name" and the label as "Program Name or Project Name" and put it in your custom form where the old field used to sit. I've done so in my own instance, and so you can see in the attached screenshot that when I type in one line (request Subject) will feed the same content into a custom field (Topics/Title/Program Name) instantly.

The intention of the workfront native fields isn't to allow you to remove the subject line from elsewhere on the request queue, or replace it there in any way. It's simply to allow you to label an existing field within the custom form space (sounds like you know this, but just want to make sure).

If you meant to do something different, I recommend that you reword your idea.

Hi @skyehansen - yes I know.  I am not asking to remove the Subject field.  What you have done here is exactly what I am looking for, but I wasn't able to achieve that result with the subject field.  I guess I don't see what you did because when I go to the native fields, subject is not listed.

Great -- glad we are on the same page. You should be looking for Name -- not Subject.
