Why do I have to cancel an approval to change basic things?

Want to edit or add an assignment? Cancel the approval

Want to change the finish date? Cancel the approval

Want to change the task name or add a description? Cancel the approval

This really makes the update stream look messy when you have to cancel an approval (change status) to perform any of these actions.
