It would be nice to be able to create a task status which would not allow users to update a task/log time against it. As we're all aware there is no way to lock logging time against the task.
You can create a task status called Dead, but you can't equate it to Dead. We have task statuses called Deferred and Not Required that equate to Complete. They can still drive the plan, while giving some indication that they weren't actually performed. Strange but true: if you set someone's rights to a specific task to Contribute, and then uncheck all of the boxes under Advanced, you can deny them the ability to log hours or change the task status, although they can still post updates and change the commit date. ~Jeff
We have the problem of Workers not updating their time on a task until past a billing cycle, or accidentally adding time to the wrong task, and then there is just the general idea that a completed task isn't really completed until the project is.
This does not inspire reporting confidence and wastes Project Management time.
I've found this particular Idea Exchange has multiple variations...so I'm commenting on this one, but plan to spread the word about all of them.
