Notifications Sync

I receive notifications via email and the notification center/icon in the system. It would be nice if there was a way to sync where I read a notification. For example, if I click to an update through a notification email it would automatically remove the notification from my icon/center in the system. Then I wouldn't waste time in my notification center on updates I've already seen via email.
