Multiple Users Assigned to Single Task

Currently if there are multiple users assigned to a single task, any person can close out the task and block all other users if they select DONE and do not further select Done with my part. The help desk called it a feature but in the real software world its called a bug.

It would be nice if the Task Owner (Assigned To) is the only one that can assess the entire task as done for all before everyone else clicks done. Anyone that's not the task owner, gets done with my part until they are the last one.

My current client really wants the assigned to/owner to be the accountable party for each task while right now the concept isn't well defined.

Thank you for providing this feedback to us.

We are reviewing the activity on this request and are working to understand as many use cases as possible. Changing the behaviour of the “Done” button is highly requested, but it impacts the core functionality in many places, so we would like to be cautious when making changes here. We will keep this request open and research the ways we can make improvements in this area to make sure we do not introduce issues for our customers.

Thank you for your interest in this idea. After further research, and considering the various customer needs, we want to find the best approach for changing the existing functionality. This request is not planned in the next 12 months so we are now marking it "Not Planned."

Please continue to add your comments and use cases and we may revisit this decision in the future. Thank you again!

This is a bug, plain and simple.

In the beginning this was hard to imagine that it would not be fixed because YES this is a bug. But considering that MOST suggestions and comments provided wind up with a "Not Planned" status, one can only come to the conclusion that Workfront is not posting this as a way to fix their buggy code, they are using it for (1) pacification, (2) new features, (3) because their competitors do this too.

the two options are needed in my environment because one person needs to make the action but two people have the skill set and sometimes its based on who is available at the time to do the work. Without the complete option we wouldn't be able to use this functionality.

When multiple people need to see it building out separate tasks can ensure this happens.

Or its about accountability that the user knows when to mark done with my part and when to complete.

The current functionality continues to create problems in my organization. At the minimum there should be warning of "hey, you closing other peoples work efforts - are you sure you want to do this?" Also, if it is done in error, there should be an easier way to fix it.

It should default to "done with my part" if there are multiple users assigned. Also it isn't even available in the Home area.
