Make the Business Case Available for Requests

Use case 1: We want to leverage the Business Case and Portfolio Optimizer on requests as well as projects to determine whether requests should be approved.

Use case 2: We want to use custom fields AND the business case. We use a request to solicit required custom fields. This request prevents us from being able to use the business case and portfolio optimizer. Alternatively, if we go directly to a project and leverage the business case, and we lose our required fields.

Use case 3: Requesters submitting the request need to provide the business case details and may not have a WF license.

Agreed. We have the PMO editing the resource estimates on the Business Case as asking the PMs to both fill in the request form and then editing the Business Case resourcing area is just too much!

Yes! We're currently asking the business case questions on the custom intake form, and then MANUALLY transferring those responses to the business case after the project has been opened. It's so time consuming.

Agreed.
Depending on how a business operates, the business case and collected custom data should also be convertible into a PROGRAM. In my use case, projects are tactical executions that are more or less pre-approved once the larger program is authorized. The current way Business Case is deployed prevents me from making use of an excellent Workfront feature.

We are just looking to implement using the business case, scorecard and portfolio optimization.

Our current process uses a request queue, to request a project. That request lives as in issue, until we determine that we will do it and convert it into a project.


If I'm following correctly, we cannot currently create a business case on the project request. We would rather not have to convert it to a project, until we determine that the project is worthwhile.

As an update here, this will be combined with the general changes to the Workfront object structure, with the first phase being handled as a part of this idea: https://one.workfront.com/s/idea/0870z000000PSYuAAO/detail

As such, it won't be completed in the short term, so I am marking this as Not on the Roadmap. It is something we want to pursue for the long term though.
