Kanban - Provide ability to auto-assign a story color based on a custom field

We are looking at using the Kanban feature to manage some of the work on our team. We have a custom field that we use to categorize what area benefits from each particular work item (Work Management, Finance/Accounting, PM Support, SR Support). We would like to be able to use the custom field and assign a Story Color to each value. This way, when our Manager looks at the Kanban view, he can easily see which areas are benefiting the most and their priorities.

Currently, I've been experimenting with manually assigning the color to the story, however, it opens up a lot of room to introduce inconsistencies if I forget to correct the color since one is automatically applied or if I apply the wrong color based on the values we are using.

If I could do this in an automated fashion, there would be no room for error in applying the color and it would eliminate an extra step on my part. Thanks!

Does anyone else want the ability to be automatically associate colors on the Kanban to a custom field?
