I love the "Condition Update" field. It's a built-in, compound field available on Tasks/Issues/Projects that includes
- The condition
- The most recent comment made by the person who owns the item
- When the update was posted
- Who posted the update
All of that is great for creating at-a-glance updates for a collection of work.
PROBLEM: Many people would like this field to reflect the general "how's it going status" for the item, rather than the most recent comment made by the owner. E.g., the most recent comment could be a message that the owner posted using the Outlook plugin.
PROPOSED SOLUTION: I'd like a subtle checkbox to appear when the owner of an item is entering an update or looking at their past updates. It could be called "Reported Update" or something like that. Checking the box would make that post the most recent update for the purposes of the Condition Update field. Checking that box on one update would remove it from any other update, so there would only be one at any given time. If no update is checked, then the Condition Update would revert to its current behavior.
This would allow people to manage the reported condition/status without worrying about other posts that they make.
