We would like the system to assign a unique number to newly created projects, with the format custom-defined by the admin. Yes, every object in WF has a 'Reference Number', but a number range solely for projects would be useful to us.

For example, a 'Project Number' field that auto-populates with the next number, using a format like: SUZP0001, then SUZP0002, SUZP0003, etc...

    Hi Jon. This is a great suggestion. We would love for this to apply to other objects as well. For example, issues logged to a project. If you could add the project name and sequential number based on entry date - that would help with some issue tracking we are trying to do.

    It would be nice to set our own prefix and start number to create auto job numbering for each program

    We would love to have a each project generate a project number with our own criteria. At present our work around is to create a project each month and add the job numbers in as a task. it burdensome and will be more difficult as we add more of our employees into the system who generate 20 times more projects.

    This appears to be the same idea with what's I've posted in early March. Please upvote the idea so we can hopefully get this in Workfront's future enhancements.

    I am new to WF and really wish some sort of project numbering is available. Today I found that there is an additional idea posted that is similar to this one and brought it up. The product team will now monitor the two ideas as though they were the same. Between the two, we are up to 36 votes and need 45. So, if you have not voted, please do so. You can also contact your Account Executive to express your need for this feature.
