Allow sub filtering after clicking Projects I'm On and Projects I Own buttons in NWE

The current functionality of the new "Projects I'm On/ Projects I Own" buttons in the NWE is creating confusion for users. They are not making the connection that the buttons' only function is to apply the Projects I'm on/ Projects I Own filter from the drop down list.

The result set given are of ALL projects they own or are on so users are going to the filter list to select "Active" and are not aware they are removing the filter they just applied from clicking those buttons.

I'd like to request an enhancement where the Projects I own/ Projects I'm On buttons act as a top level filter and allow users to utilize the filter selector as a "sub filter" to narrow their result set to mimic the way that subtabs + filter selection worked in the classic UI.
