Fusion Best Practices and Common Usage Cases

We have recently integrated Fusion with our Workfront instance, we're looking to gather insights from experienced users on effective best practices and common automation strategies that have helped optimize their workflows. Also looking for some quick wins that has helped teams increase speed to market. Any ideas or guidance would be appreciated. We are currently compiling a list and prioritizing those ideas.

    My favorite topic! 

    Quick Wins (Immediate Impact):

    1. Automated Project Creation

    • Usually, one of the first things I have clients ask me to set up for them when starting a new engagement is this; this can be a major win. Setup can take some time (deciding on templates, creating templates, determining roles/teams to engage, and scheduling), but the result is a lot of excited PMs and a significant amount of time saved.

    2. File Management Automation

    • This depends on whether you use a DAM service, but it can also be significant. Move final files to DAM and auto tag, etc.

    3. Request Queue Enhancements

    • Just set this up recently for a client; auto-assign based on request queue combinations (if X and Y are selected, send to A, otherwise send to B). From there, you can add automatic messaging, routing based on PTO, set up designated backups, etc.

    My biggest recommendation is to always work in the sandbox, have two copies of your scenarios (one for sandbox, one for prod), and to get a service account set up 🙂 Happy Fusioning!

      Hi! I'm new to Fusion and have set up fairly generic scenarios that auto-assign to one user. Talks about back-ups and routing based on PTO has been going on and am curious if you could shed some light on how on to implement this into the scenarios if our designated team member is out. Thank you in advance!

      Automatic Task assignment using a Custom form fields. When you have too many tasks to assign in a project, this automation will help the project owner to do the assignments without confusion and save time.

      Here's a couple quick ones from my instance - 

       

      • Automated OOO responses - Watch update messages, assess tagged users versus active delegation rules. If matched, post comment tagging delegatee, and comment back with information on when the original person is expected to return.
      • Auto-attach commonly forgotten Approval Paths - For us, 'If ad-hoc task created with Form B attached, also auto attach/trigger Approval Path 123'.
      • Detect a task has become 'active' but the required custom form hasn't been completed, notify the person who completed the prior task
      • Detect a task has been completed, but a file is missing from a specific folder - For us, if the Billing task is completed, there better be a document in one specific folder. Tag user to fix.
