Planned/Actual hours for week as a field

Is it possible to create a field that reports on planned hours/actual hours for the week. I know resource manager is a tool, but I am looking to take some of that information a put it into a report. Not a graph, but as a field. If I can create a calculated field, can I put it on a user form? The goal is to create this report and put it on a dashboard so that managers can quickly see who has room to be assigned work

That's an interesting thought. If no one has done this already, I may take a stab at it but I don't wanna re-invent the wheel here.
