Migrate from Medcap Flare to AEM Guides

Hey fellas,

I am exploring at a project which involves migration from Madcap Flare which is the current documentation platform to AEM Guides.

I have not worked on a DITA based migration project before so would appreciate your inputs as to the pitfalls and things to consider.

Also, has anyone worked on a migration project for technical documentation to AEM Guides from other CCMS solutions?

Any blog reference, link would be highly appreciated!

Ideally if the project is in the discovery phase, you would like to have access to the product and do feature parity or 1:1 mapping of how the client leverages the product and what AEM Guides offers.

You can try the below product video -  Getting Started with MadCap Flare and Featured Videos

There's also a free trial for 30 days https://www.madcapsoftware.com/free-trials/ but it would be better to understand how the customer uses the product to get their requirements.

Product Documentation - https://help.madcapsoftware.com/flare2024r2/Content/Flare/Home.htm

Also for the features you mentioned are all available in AEM Guides -

You can also refer to the below blog for migration-

Hope this helps!

Hi @_CL

In MadCap Flare editor, there is an option to convert the content to DITA (though it shows deprecated, it still works)

Thanks @Vijendra1, there are certain capabilities in MadCap Flare which I want to know can be replicated in Guides -

  • factory templates (eLearning, Knowledge Base etc.)
  • Branding styles
  • Importing legacy documents
  • Creating snippets
  • Custom conditions

Is there any resource which can help in mapping these functionalities to Guides?
