Q: Can objects on a Master Page not be set to Visible (Screen Only)?

I need expert input - we develop multipage court forms that on the last page have three buttons, Print, Save, and Clear. These buttons are in the footer of a master page. We have them set to Visible (Screen Only), but they show up in print. We don't want them to. Must we move them to content pages to achieve this?

Thanks!

Okay, so the answer is no, it is NOT because they are on the Master Pages. I tried adding them to Content Pages, same result. All buttons are set to Visible (Screen Only), but when printing to PDF they still show up. How do we avoid this behavior?

Hi @cøk,

In many Adobe layout tools, master pages (or parent pages) are intended for repeated content, like footers and headers. By default, content placed here can be visible on all output channels (screen, print, etc.), unless specifically managed.

The "Visible (Screen Only)" property typically applies to interactive elements in forms. However, some PDF engines and print routines may not honor this consistently, especially for items in master pages.

However, in any case, if you want to have a few buttons that you want to show on the form and not display on the Printer version then you would only need to select the "Visible (Screen Only)" option. I have tested this on a new form and it seems to be working fine.

If you still see the issue kindly share the form and I can give it a try.

Thanks

Pranay

Sure; here is a fillable form with two buttons on the Master Page (text and Print) and two on the content page (Save and Clear). All four objects are set to Visible (Screen Only). All four are visible on Print to PDF - see the FLAT file also attached. Is there some Acrobat setting that has to be adjusted?
