Live Cycle Forms aren't retaining field info upon submission if not originally filled with Adobe SW product. How do I fix the forms to be inclusive of all pdf fillers? This is a new development. (4-20-2020)

Not sure I'm fully understanding your issue, but I guess you mean that:

  • You've built a form using LiveCycle Designer
  • If you fill and submit the form using Adobe Acrobat the data is submitted
  • But if you fill and submit with another PDF viewer the data does not submit.

The thing to be aware is that LiveCycle forms are based on the XFA standard. which is only supported by Acrobat and Adobe Reader.

If you want to build a form that can be filled using any PDF reader you will need to build forms using the AcroForms standard. Acroforms are a lot more restrictive than XFA (they really just offer name-value pairs), but they form part of the PDF ISO standard.

is this form created using livecycle designer? and which application is being used to fill the form?

Yes these forms are made in LiveCycle Designer; I have created the forms. The pdf filler might be Adobe reader or PDF Viewer, third party pdf fillers. The filled field of the form can be seen in a Google browser but not Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat Pro DC, which is my default pdf reader. (I couldn't answer your question - hot link isn't working).

Please provide instructions on how to upload a form. I think Greg has identified the issue - the form has to be filled with an Adobe SW application. I believe that when the fields are filled by a 3rd party app (PDF Viewer), if the form is then 'printed' as a pdf, the fields will lock down and all will be saved.
