Best way to generate Document of Record for Adaptive forms, without using XDP as form template

Hi,

I am new to AEM forms, hence asking for directions.

 

We need to generate interactive PDF from Adaptive forms with form data. The PDFs needs to be downloaded on the user machine and not saved in AEM as it will have user and customer data.

 

I can understand from the below documentation that DoR can be generated in three ways:

1. Could anyone suggest the best possible way to generate interactive PDF without using XDPs from Adaptive forms, as we      need to get rid of XDPs in future.

2. How to make the generated PDF from Adaptive forms accessible?

HI @pranay_m thanks for your input.

 

We have XDPs with us, just the problem that we are facing is with form designer, as they are out dated. It is very hard to fix the installation issue with form designer for creating XDPs.

 

Hence we are trying and looking out for solution to prevent usage of XDPs, once the adaptive forms are ready to use. But we still need to generate interactive PDFs from Adaptive forms.

I understand that you have your XDP, however, while working with Adaptive form, you do not need to use the XDP in any way. When you want to generate the DOR after the form is filled and submitted correctly, AEM internally uses a predefined XDP(OOTB), which acts as a template and helps in generating the PDF that contains all your form's information.

Additionally, If you want to change the look and feel of your output PDF which is generate,d then you need to use a custom template which is an XDP. Additionally you can refer to the below link to get the latest information on installing the Forms Designer.

Hi @smrithig1 ,

 

Based on your requirement, A common use case is to be able to download an interactive DoR with the Adaptive Form data. The downloaded DoR will then be completed using Adobe Acrobat or Adobe Reader.

    Here I can see that XDP template is used for downloading PDF.

     

    Do you know if there is way to generate PDF without using the XDPs.
