I am trying to test applying metadata tags to several assets at once. A window appears in the upper right corner to select or not select "Append Mode"
What does "append mode" do if checked?
what does it do if you do not check it?

Append Mode is used to append the new metadata with the existing metadata in fields that contain multiple values. If you do not select this option, the new metadata replaces the existing metadata in the fields.
