AEM DAM Search panel, Filter inactive assets not working?

What is the use of filter inactive assets check-box in dam search panel? Do we have to configure or set properties for it to work??

Filters active assets  filters those assets that are not active currently, based on the asset's on time and off time bracket.

You can set asset on time/off time from the metadata editor to schedule activation/deactivation(publish/unpublish) of assets to site pages. For more details refer to the documentation.
