Calling external API

I need to make a http post request to an external API that is not REST, is this possible with the ACS External API activity? otherwise what are my options?

No. External API activity won't support http post request. I don't think there is a good way to make a non-secure http post call from ACS to API.

    I read somewhere you can use Adobe I/O actions/events for this purpose but the documentation is rather confusing.
