Set up SMS External Account to send sms using API call in Adobe Campaign Classic

Hi Team,

 

Can anyone let me know the steps involved in Setting up SMS External Account to send sms using API call and how to receive DLR forward response from the connector?

ACC support SMPP type of connectivity when setting up the External Account.

Please make sure you also understand the protocol and how SMS channel works in general, ACC is following SMPP 3.4 specifications.

As you will ACC does not use APIs to send SMS to SMS aggregator/SMS provider, it uses SMPP protocol.

Thank you for your swift response, the sms vendor that we are currently having can send only transactional sms using SMPP and bulk sms they are using via API call. Any advice for this scenario?

So the SMS provider supporta SMPP but not for bulk sending, What are the reasons they are setup this way? Is it technical, contractual? 
Reason for asking is that if we don't go SMPP route, you would have to go via a custom solution deploying the SMS channel on Marketing instance via a Custom Delivery Connector. And you would have to implement the whole SMS processes (outgoing, incoming) as a custom solution which is not an ideal scenario for sure...
So, try to find out why they can't go SMPP route for marketing and if you definitivley hit a road blocker, you would go via a Custom Delivery Connector whihc is not ideal from a maintenability point of view.

Thanks to you i was able to get the vendor set up for SMPP bulk messages.

 

i had created an external account and configured the SMPP details and triggered an sms delivery using the same external account, the sms was send from Adobe Campaign, but the delivered / failed response was not received in Adobe Campaign delivery logs schema, i had asked the same to the vendor saying if any configuration has to be done in order to get the response back.

 

They got back saying " bind the session with TRX mode " i can see in Adobe Campaign only supports TX+RX mode. Can you help me with that?
