Capacity Typology Rules for Transactional Messages in Adobe Campaign Classic

Hi,

There is a scenario where we want to control the number of communications sent for a campaign and also for a channel. Lets say maximum 5K communication for a campaign or 20K communication for SMS channel.

And it needs to be implemented for Transaction Messaging(Real-Time) communication.

I tried to create a capacity typology rule. Added it to the Transactional Message Typology and assigned Transactional message typology to the delivery template, but it did not control the number of communications sent out for that delivery template. For testing purpose i kept the max count to '2' only.

Thanks!!

Vikash

Hi Vikash,

Is your RT execution instances hosted by Adobe? If yes your approach will not work as your instance is just a control instance and update by the MCsynch workflow. Two options:

  • if you are working with Adobe consulting ask if they can create a capacity rule on the execution instance (usually Adobe is keeping the instances OOTB so they may not accept)
  • Use a micro service or middleware to control the volume.

Thanks,

David

Hi Vikash,

You cannot add typology rules on Transactional Messages as the instance is hosted by Adobe. You can try to control the volume through a middle ware tools.

Thanks,

Thanks David!!We were able to add Control Typology, i could see a way to add Filtering typology as well but when i added Capacity typology it is not working per expectation. Any thing specific with Capacity rule and transactional messages.

Hi Vikash

If you use typology rules for transactional message, you need to write the rules on the rtEventBroadLog and the rules will apply on the email address.

You can't use rules applied on Recipient in Classic transactional messages but on real-time events it should work

Thanks

Denis.

Hi Denis,

Thanks for your suggestion. Where exactly these rules be written or configured. Can we also use the pressure typology rules?

We tried to apply the pressure typology rules for transactional messages but it doesn't get applied. Any pointers on the same.

Thanks!!
