I would like to learn the steps to send out an email blast to selected contacts in our Salesforce database. Salesforce is currently linked to Marketo so I think that should not be a problem (e.g. our web-to-lead forms work great). However, when I create a smartlist and choose the filters we want (State and Account Name), no leads show up in my Smartlist when I click the Leads tab. Any suggestions? thanks

Hi,Brand new Marketo user here and I am trying to understand the lay of the land. Before implementing actual Campaigns, we are planning things out. I am trying to envision how I might apply our plans to Programs in Marketo.I am not clear on the benefits of using a Program of Type=Engagement and Channel=Nurture vs just using a regular Program and having a Smart Campaign in there that does the email sends over a given period of time. Is it very similar? Is the Engagement/Nurture option just a simplified why of using a normal Smart Campaign?Similar question on using a Program of Type=Email and Channel=Email Send. Is this just a simplified, purposeful UI for doing an email send rather than needing to build a Default style Program.Sorry if these are basic questions, but I am just trying to compartmentalize the Marketo features in my brain.

When you delete a lead from SFDC via Marketo does it get classified at "SFDC deleted" and should there be a problem to resync that lead to SFDC later?

Just looking for input/advice for simplifying/automating emails of new blog posts to our blog subscribers.Is there any way to automatically generate an email with the blog title, author name, and maybe an excerpt from the blog each time a new blog post is published?Do you recommend a separate program for each new blog post and just use tokens for title, author, excerpt? Any input is greatly appreciated? 

I read elsewhere in the forum that for programs using forms, program acquisition is only set automatically by local forms, not global forms.  Is this true?My use case is for webinars - we use the same form for most webinars so we use a global form.  However, this now means I need to set up a camapign to update acquisition on the local program.. Not really a big deal since it can be cloned for each new webinar.  Alternatively I need to create a local form, also not such a big deal since this can also be cloned, however wouldn't I then have to update the landing page with the new local form, or would this update automatically?Both seem to be fairly simple solutions that achieve the same goal, any recommendations out there?

Hi all,I find fields Updated and Created for Lead in Admin -> Field Management of Marketo UI. But when using API 'describeMObject' and 'getMultipleLeads', I could not find them in the results.I used 'Export Field Names' in the UI and saved an Excel file. In the file, I could not find Updated or Created, either.How could I access them by SOAP APIs?Should I change any settings or configs first?Best Regards,Biao

I have an email going out that has a link to the post I want to share. Also, I included the titles of the sections on the email and want to link them to their proper location in the post. Is this possible? If so can you please share how to do this. Thanks in advance!

Was wondering if anyone had solutions or similar issues viewing landing pages externally vs. internally on their company network?  I currently cannot view a marketo landing page when I am connected to my internal network.  I get the following error.  The error occurs regardless of browser (IE/Firefox).  Oops! Google Chrome could not connect to cname.domain.comExternally, I do not have these issues and the pages load fine displaying the CSS correctly.  Oringally we were only having issues loading the CSS, but now we cannot load the pages at all.    Our internal and external settings are configured the same way so that our cname.companydomain.com points to our accountstring.mktoweb.com.  Any ideas as to what is going on?  Thanks,

SFDC ID is a column choice on a lead report, but I can't access it in a filter. Are there any workarounds for this? I realize I could make the lead/contact ID a SFDC formula field on the lead/contact, but that wouldn't trigger an update in Marketo.I'd like to filter based on Account ID as well.

Can someone please suggest SmartList criteria to find leads that were deleted from SFDC, but not deleted from MKTO?  The challenge is that the MKTO field shows the SFDC Type = Lead and Marketo SFDC ID has a value in it.  However, when you try to find that Lead in SFDC, it doesn't exist.  I want to remove those leads from MKTO.Thanks in advance,Dani

Hi Everyone,I've been seeing an increase in bad data in form fillouts and was wondering if anyone has any solutions that have worked well for them to avoid this.- How do you ensure that someone enters in a valid work email? i.e., when someone submits a bad email, the form will recognize it as bad data immediately and ask them to correct it?- What services have you used to suggest company names in the company field?- On the back end, what do you do to clean up or recognize bad data? Are there common text strings that indicate someone is keying in random letters in form fields?Any and all suggestions appreciated!!

Hello Marketing Nation,I'm trying to make a rather complex set of progression statuses in our Nurture Program.  I want the statuses to show movement between streams as well as engagment.So far I have it set so that if they change streams their status changes and if they click on an email in a give stream their status with in that stream also changes (ie "early stage" can change to "middle stage" if they switched streams or it could change to "early stage 2" if they clicked an email in that stream)I wanted something else to measure engagement, beyond clicking in an email.  I initially tried filling out forms in the different streams, but that proved problematic. Any Ideas??

I'm confused by the Is Any filter on Not Opened Email.  I'm cleaning our MKTO database of inactive records.  I'm trying to get records of people did not open a single email out of ALL the emails that we sent since Jan. 2012.If I sent 100 emails, and a person opened 99 of the 100 emails, would they qualify for Not Opened Email - IS ANY because they failed to open 1 of the 100 emails?I created Smartlist:Not Opened EmailIS ANYOn and After 01/01/2012Shouldn't there be an IS ALL filter?  I want to make sure I get this correct because I'm permanently deleting these leads from MKTO.  (I'm exporting the list before permanent deletion).

Hi,We have an engagement stream set up to send to anyone who downloads a whitepaper from our website by completing the download form. There are dozens of whitepapers that one could choose to download and but we just have one engagement stream (currently) to nurture these contacts post-download. Some of the content in the engagement stream includes our whitepapers, so I need to make sure that the people who downloaded those particular whitepapers are not then receiving them again in the engagement stream. Does anyone know if its possible to change the filter/smart list settings for particular emails in an engagement stream? For example, if the lead has filled out form A, do not send email A, but still send the rest of the emails in the stream.My only thought so far is that I would need to set up separate engagement streams for all the whitepaper downloaders in order to ensure the content in each stream does not repeat the content they already downloaded. I'm hoping to avoid this.Thanks

Hello,My company uses Marketo for many of our operational update emails to our clients.  I have a few clients complaining that they never received the emails (multiple ones over the course of 2 weeks or so, including a test email).  When I look at the activity log of the 2 email addresses for the client, Marketo says the emails were sent and delivered.  The clients say the email is not in the Spam folder, and there firewall hasn't blocked anything.  Any idea as to why they have are not receiving the updates?Thanks!

When an anonymous user logs into our website (via our own forms... not Marketo forms) how do we send that information to Marketo via their API so that anonymous becomes a known user?

Hi,in order to sync Marketo with Salesforce, we are using the Salesforce license of an existing user (and not a dedicated user how is recommended). This user is not so active in Salesforce, that's why we decide to use his license. However the user needs to have access to a custom object (email messages from gmail attached to each lead by MatchMyEmail app). If we set this object to be visible from "custom objects permission set" section of the profile, the object (and its fields: mail subject, body, recipeint etc.) will sync with Marketo. Would this be an issue for Marketo? I mean if it wont overload the system or any other issues.Thanks,

I developed a "company" report that filters for anonymous =  "true".   When I look at the report, I see a column that is labeled "Leads".   What is a lead in this case?   Is it an anonymous lead (meaning a specific IP address registered to that company) or is marketo looking at all the know lead records and telling me how many contain the company name that is coming up in the reporting.   (which would be pretty cool).Thanks all

Hi, on some cases for no aparent reson when i send:soap.syncMultipleLeads(params, authHdr);I get this error:javax.xml.ws.soap.SOAPFaultException: 20012 - Request not understoodI have no idea why this happens and i don't see any problem with the message i am sending.This happends to our customer that uses a webhook to send a message to our system and our system sends an update back to marketo some of the fields.Any ideas what might cause this error?thanks

We've begun some in depth analysis on measuring where leads come from and how much revenue they're generating etc.One issue that I've been having is that it's quite tedious to go account by account in SFDC and find the very first contact in the account to see what the overall lead source was.Does anyone have some tips/techniques on flagging the first lead/contact to say "Hey, this was the first person that got the ball rolling for this company" regardless of where other people come from after the fact?

Hi all,I'm still making many tweaks and changes in my nurture streams etc... but as for the nurture program as a whole, I 'm trying to determine what statuses to use and which to label as succeses. Any thoughts? What are yall using?
