Using "Other Teams" for ad hoc project assignments, how to report across Teams?

I've seen several posts mentioning that "Other Teams" can not be used as a filter for reports so I need some advice.

I don't want to remove a user from their Home Team but I still need to put them in some bucket for reporting. 

How can I pull together a report of people from different Home Teams who are temporarily assigned to a project?

 

Everyone is part of the same larger Home Group which we use to assign licenses.

Got it, in that case it would make sense to just pull a User Report based on User > Team IDs = [Team Name] or have a prompt that has the same setup. The Team IDs in a user report functions differently than other areas of the system where the field can be more limited, in this case it accounts for all of the users teams. It would also work on a column view (User > Team).

 

The Home Team ID vs. Other Team ID is more limited on task reports, etc. but sounds like you need a user report to view their teams and then make updates accordingly (in which case Team ID should help!)

Hi @pa855 - Would you be able to provide more context into what you're looking to report on? Is it a report of Users assigned to a Project filtered by a Project ID?

Very close, but it's users picked for an initiative that will have many projects spanning at least a year. Some are brand new users, some are currently on other teams, some are consultants.

But the projects aren't kicked off yet so there's no ID.

I'm the (new) Sys Admin, creating the accounts and I'd like to pull everyone together on one report so I can ensure everyone has the correct Layout Template, Time Reporting setting, etc.

Are you saying that you're putting everyone in a bucket called "other teams" and you're limited in the ability to report on individual users in such a big generic bucket?

Workfront has the ability to assign someone to multiple teams.

If you wanted to create a report which shows the members of a specific team you could create a User report -> Filter: User >> Home Team ID - equals - ______ (fill in the blank)"

Obviously if they are assigned into multiple teams you would need to configure your filters to capture this information like how another user suggested.

Yup, using Home Team ID was the solution. I needed everyone who had a particular team associated with them regardless of their Home Team.
