Task Page UI update - Put DUE DATE next to Commit Date

While I 100% agree that it would be best to allow system admins to customize whether commit dates are used in the system as stated in this initial idea (https://support.workfront.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/115001085547-Give-system-admins-an-option-to-remove-Commit-Dates-from-the-system-), I still feel like one of the issues here is customization of the task page UI.

Maybe Workfront can make this minor adjustment while we all wait for that bigger one to get planned now that it has 50+ votes.

When a user navigates to an individual task they see that commit date as the ONLY date under the assignments section. This is one of the biggest points of confusion end users have complained about consistently and no amount of training has eased this pain.

If the task page displayed a side by side comparison of DUE DATE vs. commit date, I think that'd make a lot more sense to users. This should be a minor enhancement that actually provides a lot of bang for your buck. The simple act of placing these two next to each other on the task UI page should immediately help clarify what the important date is.

Whilst I am definitely in the "remove commit dates" camp, I agree that if that's too hard to do so, then it would be very valuable to add the real Due Date in the main task box, next to (or immediately above/below) the Commit Date. This will at least resolve the key concern, which is the confusion where users think the Commit date IS the Due Date.

This has been a point of confusion for all of our users and one of the most complained about issues my team has using the system. Right now there are 3 dates that differ as I have users enter their requested due date in the custom form, the commit date appears on the main request page, and the planned completion date I can only shift after all approvals are submitted.

Agreed. We're struggling with this. Not having the same dates in the project, my work and in the task itself is honestly ridiculous. Commit dates are useless when we move dates around in a active project, which happens all the time. WF has to address this...

I had a chance to speak with Workfront about this. Apparently the solution that is coming in the future is customizations that System Admins can make to the Task UI page. There is no ETA on that but it sounded like a "maybe next year" sort of thing. Definitely not helpful in the short-term but at least someday there will be a fix...

As long as it allows us to effectively remove commit dates from sight (and stop them from having any effect on Tasks) then we would be happy with the fix.

We are starting to run into problems and confusion with commit dates and how Workfront displays them within tasks and Home.
This is definitely something that needs to be addressed.

Another possible solution: Add a new option in the Layout Template to allow admins to choose whether to display the Commit Date or Planned Completion Date on the Task/Issue page.

This functionality already exists in the Layout Template for "Legacy My Work"

Thank you all for your active participation and making your voice heard. We can clearly see how much confusion the current way commit dates work is causing on your side.

I am glad to let you know that we are looking into a solution for this problem. We are in the stage of investigation and will be reaching out with research questions.

Thank you for your patience.
