Is there a way to send a notification to a proof reviewer's manager when they have missed their review deadline?

When we originally signed up for Workfront it was explained to us that a manager can receive a notification when their direct report has missed a deadline, further explained in this article: https://one.workfront.com/s/article/Set-up-automatic-reminders-1025920813?language=en_US

It is my understanding that this only applies to a task within a project or an issue, is that correct? Our proof reviewers are not assigned to tasks, only to the proofs themselves. Is there a way to set this notification up on solely the proofs?
