Fix the Style Problem in the HTML Based Gantt Chart
The general consensus among users, executives, and my program managers is that the legacy gantt chart is visually superior to the new gantt. I hate using flash and fully support the idea behind the new HTML based gantt. To that end, I spoke with a number of users and compiled a list of suggestions:
1. No full screen. Half my team is on 4k monitors. We hold meetings on giant high resolution TV's. The fixed width of the HTML gantt is severely limiting. When it comes to program management and gantt charts, the more data you can see the better. We need a way to go full screen and use the full realestate available. 75% of the users I spoke with had this as the only complaint.
2. The black predecessor lines are too dark. It's very distracting. These need to be a light gray or have opacity.
3. The design of the grouping tasks has tips that are too big. It is distracting and isn't as visually nice as the grouping tasks on the legacy gantt. The depth of these pointed ends could be reduced by 30%.
4. The colors of the gantt bars on the legacy are nicer. The darker colors of the not complete and completed bars are easier to follow.
5. When task columns have data that causes the line to split over two lines it makes the Gantt ugly and hard to read.
