Announcement Banners Restriction

Allow announcement banners Adobe creates to be limited to administrators only or the ability to adjust who sees these types of banner announcements.  Recently all users had an announcement introducing a trial for the planning module and it is confusing for end users who have limited decision making on additional modules.

We had this today as well - not psyched about it. Even more, we need a head’s up if this is going to happen - fielding questions when I myself barely know what Planning is was fun!

I’ve got junior employees hopefully requesting test accounts based on their limited understanding from this spam advertising of a feature we are literally never going to pay for because it doesn’t work for our business model. It’s a complete waste of their time and mine.

What I heard from Product today on this - know that non-admin users don’t have the decision to sign up.
“We aren't giving admins control over this. Users can close/dismiss the banners if they like. Note that System Admins are the only ones who receive the invite to accept. Other users have a "learn more" experience. In other words, non-admin users will not be able to accept on behalf of their org. If there are any reports of non-admins actually getting to the screen where they can accept, please submit a ticket to Support to correct this.”

If this helped you, please mark correct to help others : )

I’d just add that for the amount we pay for Workfront, seeing ads in it with absolutely no way to control them was not a conversation I was expecting to have. If the product were free, I’d get it. Please relay that the way this was implemented reduces trust, makes the application feel like a cash grab, and makes our job of getting people to adopt Workfront more difficult because they now have an annoying banner to deal with.

Agreed. Came here looking for an answer to this. Very disruptive.

    Agreed!

I understand the goal of promoting new features, but showing this type of messaging to everyone feels confusing and adds unnecessary clutter to the interface. Most users don’t have the ability to enable, license, or adopt new Workfront functionality. Those decisions are typically made by a small group of admins or platform owners. Because of that, it’s not clear who this message is really meant for when it’s shown to all users.

In our case, we recently reviewed Workfront Planning and decided not to move forward with it for our organization. Even so, the banner continues to appear for everyone. That’s led to a few challenges:

    • Some users assume Planning is already available or approved for use.

    • Others who were interested click the banner and try to start a trial, only to run into roadblocks.

    • All of this ends up creating confusion and extra questions for our Workfront admin team.

Advertising platform-level features to users who can’t take action on them doesn’t really improve the user experience. Instead, it becomes a distraction from day-to-day work. It would be much more effective if these promotions were limited to admins, or if customers had the option to control or disable them at the instance level.

Very much agree with this!! Planning does not fit in our budget for the year and i have a lot of users asking questions about how they can sign up. end users do not understand that planning is an entirely different product and cost, the announcement makes it seem like something they can play around with on their own. Takes time away from Admins to field unnecessary questions that could have been entirely avoided if we had more control or at least a heads up. I did relay my feedback to support and my account rep, hoping this does not happen again in the future.

I saw this on Monday and thought whether I now have to tell all my users not to touch and ignore that planning “ad”. Most of those users are just there for submitting requests, they don’t need to see that or touch that or should even know about those things. As administrator, it’s so disappointing to be surprised with these UI “updates” that we do not have control of.
