Communication limits are a hot topic in Marketo. Turns out that many Marketo pros were incorrect about several aspects of communication limits, so we wanted to make sure everyone knew how they actually work!   What’s the TLDR?   If you read no further, here’s what you should know:   Operational emails do not count towards communication limits. The “Default behavior if a person has reached communication limits” checkbox only applies to smart campaigns created from scratch after the setting is changed.  Email mailbox programs and engagement programs from scratch will have the “block non-operational emails” checkbox checked by default. Hi all,I'm working on a Nurture and I'm facing two issues:the first time I tested it with three emails and it worked; I made some changes to the nurture and I need to repeat the test using those emails. before testig again I removed them from the program with a smart campaignsmartlist: email adress is...flow: Nurture (NU) > Not in Programafter doing this, those emails are not listed in the nurture members anymore but in the streams I keep on seeing the "exausted" red messages.If I add those emails again into the nurture stream 1 and set the cadence as normal, no email is sent... basically nothing happens.what should I do?in the transition rule if I use as trigger opens email, will Marketo verify also the filter clicked link in email work as well? or will it go straigh to the flow after verifying the opens email? Thank you in advance!

Hi everyone,  My client has  now decided on the sub domains for the Adobe Marketo Landing Page and Email tracking domain. We have asked IT  with adding the following CNAME record for landing page in DNS records. DNS Entry (CNAME) for lp.example.com, pointing to yyy-xxx-000.mktoweb.com. When i try adding the landing page domain in marketo it gives me an error, invalid landing page domain and It is already been 2 weeks.  Can someone guide me what is wrong . 

I am noticing contacts in our database that are filling out Unsubscribe form from an email, but in their Activity Log it is not showing that they were sent or delivered the email. How would a contact unsubscribe from an email without even receiving the email? I attached some examples

Hello Community, Background: My company sends marketing for dozens of brands that offer memberships. As such, we have created emails that leverage Marketo's dynamic segmentation capabilities to show different content based on the different brands members have signed up for. This has been very helpful, HOWEVER, we are finding that even with this capability, our marketers are spending an inordinate amount of time updating emails. Our business depends heavily upon inbound sales calls. To track email campaign success, we regularly configure different email phone numbers on a per-brand and, often, per-email basis. If sales volume is down, Marketing often receives requests to send out ad-hoc emails within a short amount of time. Marketing is given 25-30 phone numbers per brand to set up in an email. Hi,I seem to have a lot of duplicates (based on the built in duplicate check, i.e. the Email Address field) in my DB, where one of each "pair" is a lead or a contact, and the other one is from a list upload (not flagged as neither a lead nor a contact and not synced to SFDC). Since the 'Email Address' field is the duplicate matching criteria, the duplicates cannot have been created from uploading the list of email addresses to the wrong email field (we have a few), right?I'm thinking that either- the lead/contact was created first, and then the list upload person was created as a duplicate - or of course the other way aroundEither way, I would like to understand under what circumstances this can happen (and try to stop this in the future).Any insights would help!

I have been finding many cases where our sales reps create new leads via Leadspace or similar and then they get automatically synced to Marketo. The issue is that these leads have no email address so no point for them to be in Marketo that I can think of. Anybody have any advice for what to do? I don't want them taking up space and slowing down our large Marketo instance even more (it's getting close to 500K leads at this point). Is there a way to block leads with no email address from getting from SFDC to Marketo? And would it be advisable to do so - since I know best practice is to sync everything over between the two systems.

hi all, so sorry, i have read similar on this but it doesn't specifically apply. So, i'm trying to create 1. a batch campaign for all inactive users (this will be a one off but have subsequent emails to notify them their account will expire).  2. then a triggered campaign for when users become inactive. 3. a campaign to let people know that they're active users again. i have built 2 smartlists in the db already, one has active users using api data (based on a specific criteria) and then the inactive users sl is just: is a member but is not a member of the active users SL. the batch campaign is the easy one and i think is just about there before i start testing. just wondering if anyone can help with the triggered campaign plus the one where they reactivate (at different stages - might be at three  weeks, might be two, might be one). i'm just not sure what trigger to use, entry on the inactive smartlist would be the perfect trigger but im not

Hello all, We are building segments in our database.  When creating one of our segments, I see that we are missing a salesforce filter (filter is "Has Account Relationship").  It's odd because the filter is available in smart lists but not in segments. I have checked salesforce permissions and the object sync and all looks good.  Does anyone why segments may not be able to pull in certain filters?   Thanks!

Hi all,Until recently, we have been pulling Google Analytics data such as campaign, source, keyword, referrer, etc out of the GA cookie to add to our SFDC leads. A few weeks ago, we upgrated to Universal GA code.. which no longer uses the cookie we were mining data from.. so that solution is kaput. I was wondering if the Munchkin cookie can provide similar data. I know that some of this data such as referrer exists.. has anyone seen such an implementation to pull the data? Thanks,pete

Hi Team,   I've noticed that the 'Interactive Webinars' option is not visible when attempting to create a webinar on my instance, despite having the capability to add users. Could this be due to a subscription limitation, or is there a potential issue? I want to ensure I'm not overlooking something in the process.   TIA

I've outlined the structure of our Nurture program with three streams, each containing three emails, totaling nine emails. I've considered two scenarios: 1) Leads, regardless of their engagement, become eligible to progress to the next stream upon receiving all three emails in a stream. What are your thoughts on this approach, and do you have any suggestions for optimizing this progression strategy?2) In the case where a lead receives all three emails without demonstrating engagement, I plan to send personalized emails to understand their interests better. How can we enhance these customized emails to effectively uncover their needs and provide a more tailored experience? I'm open to any ideas or insights you may have on refining these strategies.

Hi, We are looking into ways of reporting on internal staff members and the number of our events they have spoken at. As part of this project we're looking into whether Marketo could be used - one theory floated was adding a new member status to our Event Program channel called 'internal-speaker', as we don't tend to report on the attendance of internal attendees anyway.  I wondered if anyone else has created any similar reports/has any ideas how we could do this? Thanks in advance.

Recently I had an issue where I could not add a link to an image in an email. Everytime, I would do it it would just not add it. I would go back in and it was like it was never there. the link didn't even appear in tests. Finally, I just logged out and logged back in and was able to make it work. The link stuck and looked good in a test. Then this morning after the email went live, I received a note from a colleague that the links in that I thought had not stuck, showed up inthe live email in red. Looking at the test and at the email in editor mode, none of that was there. But when I explored more and looked at the HTML code of the editable field, the things that were not sticking, were there... but they only showed up some of the time and in a quick check of other colleagues, it only showed up in at least one person's email. Anyone else run into anything similiar?

Dear Marketo Community,The recent email rule updates by Google and Yahoo, especially regarding the 1-Click (List) Unsubscribe, are prompting significant changes in email marketing strategies. We're re-evaluating our approach and would love to hear some feed back from you guys. Currently, our unsubscribe mechanism directs users to a confirmation form. However, the new emphasis on the "post" list-unsubscribe option (over the "mailto" option) suggests a move towards a more streamlined, 1-click process. After reading the article: The main contention for me is whether they are referring to your email footer for “1-click” unsubscribe, or their built in features where users in Gmail can select “unsubscribe” and pass that back to our Marketo instance to automatically unsubscribe people. If it is the built-in feature within Gmail itself, does this mean we do not have to change our current unsubscribe process as mentioned above? Any suggestions and thoughts on this topic would be

I'm doing a review of an email nurture series we set up a few years back and within the last year, the open rates have been very good for the most past but our click rates throughout the series are pretty low. The series is all text-based emails - curious if anyone has thoughts on if using a template might be good to test for better click rates? Or if anyone has tips on how to improve click rates? We're clearly getting people to open the email but the CTA isn't working. Thanks!!

Hi, In the engagement program that I'm running, I notice many people are exhausting the stream content early. The stream has 8 emails in a nested program, but many people are exhausting the content yet they've only received the first email. Does anyone know why Marketo is marking them as exhausted?  Happy to provide more context. Thanks!

It was a 3 series email nurture, each email a different product promotion. They would then be able to click in each email over to the landing page. So when building the segmentations for the dynamic content on the LP I noticed its easier with data points like Industry or Job Title, but not so much for activities like opened email or clicked in email. Now that users are prevented from using/accessing anonymous data through standard marketing automation, is it possible with RTP so get access to data? If you have RTP is there anyway to get access through API via script or give apps in insight store access to it. Anonymous data is so valuable, it makes no sense how you can shut users off from it and only allow use of it within their system. Anyone know a way to get access to it?

I'm utilizing the Get Lead Activies access point and am receiving variations of the data versus the Marketo UI views. Below is some of my code - I am incrementing by 15 days at a time in case the data size is an issue. act = mc.execute(method='get_lead_activities', activityTypeIds=['3', '6', '7', '8', '9', '10', '11', '27'], sinceDatetime='2022-12-01', untilDatetime='2022-12-15')   It had been working just fine until my organization wanted me to backdate more data with more columns. Backdating it has caused these issues to come up.
