ESI : Rendering Dynamic Content | AEM by engineering.icf Abstract What is ESI ? Edge Side Includes or ESI is a small markup language for edge level dynamic web content assembly. The purpose of ESI is to tackle the problem of web infrastructure scaling. It is an application of edge computing. Static Content vs Dynamic Content ? Let’s assume we have dynamic website having most of the pages are mixture of static and dynamic content. The portion of the page should be un-cacheable and rest of the page should serve from the cache. The question here is, how do you ensure the cache won’t be impacted by having dynamic content on the page. A few possible options are – Option 1 : Load dynamic content Asynchronously (AJAX) Option 2 : Load dynamic content using ESI. I would say both the options are the best, but you should choose based on type of the website and infra considerations . Having said that, let’s talk about the scenarios when to choose what ? Implementing Interactive Communication in AEM Forms by Suvadeep Dey Abstract This article aims to provide down the steps required to implement Interactive Communication in AEM Forms. This is a very complex process as par various online product documentation. The idea behind this article is to try and simplify the same by taking up a commonly used simple use case. Use cases Interactive Communication is an integral part of any transaction that a user carries out with a website in today’s online world. The transactions could range from online tickets, getting financial documents through an email from financial services firms, travel itinerary from travel portals, etc. The below could be some of the possible use cases where an interactive communication is used: 1. A user submits his/her details on an online form and the system after processing responds back to the user with an email that has an attachment in the shape of a interactive communication. This has both the data entered by the

AEM Workflows : How to Implement Parallel Approvals by ICF Next Engineering Abstract What is Workflow in AEM? Workflows enable you to automate Experience Manager activities. Workflows consist of a series of steps that are executed in a specific order. Each step performs a distinct activity such as activating a page or sending an email message. Workflows can interact with assets in the repository, user accounts, and Experience Manager services. Therefore, workflows can coordinate complicated activities that involve any aspect of Experience Manager. Business Use case The core business use case is, as an author I should be able to add ‘n’ number of reviewers (AEM Users) to the workflow, and every user must approve or deny the request to complete the workflow. We are using the AEM Forms HTML5 capability to put a large number of XDP based forms online. Some of the forms contain common bits of text content (like an official brand name, contact email address or phone number) which we want to centrally manage so changes can be updated for all forms in one go.  I had a look around, and saw that data from external sources can be passed into the form using data or dataRef parameters, but this seems very much focussed on binding the data to fields, rather than plain content. Whats the best way to bind external data to content in the form? I have seen this done in pure XDP forms using span elements with xfa:embed 'binding' to floating fields, but this doesn't seem to work in HTML5 forms (perhaps its not supported).

How to access AEM page timeline through programmatically. Is there any APi available.

Upgraded MacOS to Monterey. Now when using AEM in Chrome (or any other browser), the components list is ghosted - no text, but you can see a hover. If you drag & drop the hover onto a page, it doesn't work. HELP!

Abstract:Indexing is the key for the queries to perform better. Based on the way Oak indexes the content(behind the scene), indexing modes are defined. Major index types available are Property Index, Lucene Index, Solr Index which works based on the indexing modes. Blog content:http://myaemlearnings.blogspot.com/2020/05/indexing-in-aem-indexing-modes-and.html

Hi there, i wonder how you guys are thinking about the Tags feature in AEM Assets (as a cloud service). If we use Adobe Bridge to set keywords on assets before upload the keywords will be mapped to the field dc:subject and not cq:tags, I assume this is by design but how can we set tags on assets outside of AEM that map to the tag taxonomy we have in AEM Assets? Any input appreciated on this topic

Hi AllI need to write a UnitTest for a doGet method in a Servlet that extends SlingSafeMethodsServlet.  This is the doGet method I need to write the UnitTest for and I am not sure how to mock the resource for it:@Overrideprotected void doGet(@Nonnull SlingHttpServletRequest request, @Nonnull SlingHttpServletResponse response) throws IOException { final JsonResponse jsonResponse = new JsonResponse(response); final String title = request.getParameter("title"); final List<APIResult> locations = LocationFinderUtil.getLocationResultStream(request, searchService) .filter(result -> StringUtils.isNotBlank(title) && (StringUtils.containsIgnoreCase(result.getTitle(), title) || StringUtils.containsIgnoreCase(result.getAdditionalAddress(), title))) .map(APIResult::new) .collect(Collectors.toList()); jsonResponse.write(locations);}

I'm trying to figure out how to migrate some custom products from 6.3 to 6.5.x and support different editing for different product types. The original products were stored under /etc/assets/project_name/product_type format. I realize that in the OOTB AEM 6.5 that this has moved to /var/commerce/products by default. There were some scaffolding dialogs created to edit each type of product.What I'm looking for is a detailed document on how to implement products in 6.5. My web searches keep coming up with whitepapers that say it can be done but I'm not finding the detail. Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Please help me with best approaches to write HTML string to PDF fileThanks in advance

Hi all, I upgrade AEM 6.2 to 6.5.0. I already updated the uber jar 6.5.0. But, OracleDriver (OracleDriver) show "Installed" status, not "Active." Saw this error below: javax.activity -- Cannot be resolvedjavax.rmi -- Cannot be resolved javax.rmi.CORBA -- Cannot be resolved May I know how to tackle this? Thanks in advance.

We have recently implemented login functionality with the help of OKTA and we have utilized SAML OOTB configuration for it.  Issue: Whenever we login, it is showing "Anonymous" user instead of showing logged in user id. I can see users created on publishers but still it is not treating them actual users. Below are logs: 30.11.2021 14:17:35.153 *DEBUG* [qtp629093193-3004] org.apache.sling.auth.core.impl.SlingAuthenticator getAuthenticationInfo: no handler could extract credentials; assuming anonymous30.11.2021 14:17:35.153 *DEBUG* [qtp629093193-3004] org.apache.sling.auth.core.impl.SlingAuthenticator doHandleSecurity: No credentials in the request, anonymous30.11.2021 14:17:35.155 *DEBUG* [qtp629093193-3004] org.apache.sling.auth.core.impl.SlingAuthenticator setAttributes: ResourceResolver stored as request attribute: user=anonymous30.11.2021 14:17:45.154 *DEBUG* [qtp629093193-2991] org.apache.sling.auth.core.impl.HttpBasicAuthenticationHandler forceAuthentication: N

We're trying to set up SDI on pages that use authored templates on 6.3 but aren't having any luck.  We have a user widget in the header that uses dynamic data but we aren't seeing anything happen in page rendering when we flag the header component as being an SDI resource type.  We are seeing includes being properly written when we indicate a component in the authored section of a page using that template, so we know SDI is set up properly.  Is there anything that needs to be done to get the two features working together?

Apache Sling Sitemap in AEM 6.5 & AEMaaCS by The AEM Maven - Juan Ayala Abstract On almost every AEM project I've worked on, there has been a need to generate a Google sitemap. It is standard SEO practice. The first time I wrote one using JSP and a resource visitor. In the last couple of projects, I used the ACS Commons Sitemap Generator. Recently I came to find out that the ACS generator is now deprecated. Its recommended replacement is the AEM WCM Core Components Sitemap feature. That is on AEMaaCS. For 6.5.10.0 and below, there is no such feature. That is until now with the release of 6.5.11.0. This one feature is no reason to rush to upgrade. It is something to keep in mind should you find yourself working with that version. And definitely, if you are working on AEMaaCS. The video on the tutorial page covers the configuration. You will generate sitemaps in no time. I will sum up those steps here. What that video does not cover is customization. Skip to the end if that is

Configuring Author Access on AEMaaCS Instances by The AEM Maven - Juan Ayala Abstract You spent countless hours developing, testing, and putting together an awesome AEM site. The whole time you work as 'admin'. You make it to QA and the question will arise. "How do we grant content authors access?" In previous projects, you dealt with local AEM groups. Or you had an LDAP integration. If you find yourself in AEMaaCS now the question is "What is IMS and how do I grant content authors access?" Create a User in IMS Adobe's Identity Management System allows customers to manage all Experience Cloud users in a single unified console. You can create users in IMS or you can sync with an external directory. Let's create a user in IMS. Go to the Admin Console and click on the Add Users Quicklink. add users quick linkadd users quick link You can use any email, as long as it is not already in the current directory. Once you have entered the email select the product profile. In this case, I

Tips for Building an Effective and Efficient Enterprise Adobe Experience Manager Platform by Brett Birschbach Abstract Content Management System (CMS) platforms such as Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) are purchased by enterprise organizations looking to empower their brand and business unit marketers to create first-class digital experiences with reduced maintenance costs and dependence on IT. However, many organizations find themselves experiencing the opposite, with development and maintenance costs steadily increasing over time as their CMS becomes a Frankenstein of hundreds of components and IT once again becomes a bottleneck. Building a clean, maintainable AEM platform in support of a single site is pretty straightforward. Without proper planning and business goals, however, enterprises consisting of multiple brands and business units often see what started as 40 components and 8-page templates multiply into 400 components and 80-page templates. Website updates become constraine

Adobe Experience Manager’s Sling RepoInit: When Should You Use It? by Poorva Jain Abstract We’re back to discuss when and how to use Sling Repolnit! Wondering what this tool is? Check out our post on the "what" and "why" behind it before diving into the below use cases. As a note, for the purposes of this article, all examples for RepoInit are syntax agnostic. This is because a RepoInit configuration can either be in a .cfg.json format or .xml format. So say, if you are doing this in .xml you will have to use " " for a new-line character while /n would work just fine in case of a .cfg.json. If you want a quick refresher, look back to this post! Use Case One: Permission Modelling You can create users and groups, assign group membership, assign privileges and even add glob restrictions via repo init. If you have used ACL packages or any other third-party packages for performing these operations earlier, this should be a refreshing change! create path /home/groups/my-demo-site(rep:Aut

Generate reports for a users last log-in in AEM by AEMTutorial Abstract There are cases where we need to generate reports for a users last log-in in AEM. I have seen many help blogs but none of them worked for me. Below given an approach which worked for me. Approach Utilising 'AuthenticationInfoPostProcessor' service in combination with ACS commons, its going to be easy to generate such reports. This is tested on AEM 6.5 version. Step1: Deploy below Java code which will capture lastLogin information. Java class which captures the users last login and update the user node Note: Modify the conditions as per your project requirement. --Java class START --- package yourpackage.core.services; import java.text.SimpleDateFormat; import java.util.Date; import javax.jcr.Session; import javax.servlet.http.HttpServletRequest; import javax.servlet.http.HttpServletResponse; import org.apache.jackrabbit.api.security.user.Authorizable; import org.apache.jackrabbit.api.security.user.User
