How to Create Branded Experiences with Adobe Content Hub and AEM Sites By Diana Peterson

As a Principal Product Manager on Adobe’s Digital Employee Experience team, I focus on understanding and meeting enterprise content needs across Adobe—using Adobe products to do it. My team runs and operates our internal Content Hub, and we truly drink our own champagne by acting as Customer Zero. In a previous post, we shared how we approached scaling content distribution for 40,000+ employees using Content Hub.

In this post, I share how we partnered with Adobe’s Substance 3D team to create a branded, role-based content experience using AEM Assets Content Hub, AEM Sites, and Attribute Based Access Control (ABAC).

Key Concepts

AEM Assets Content Hub: A centralized destination for publishing, discovering, and distributing approved digital assets at scale.

Attribute Based Access Control (ABAC): Access rules based on user attributes such as role or product team, enabling targeted access without manual permission management.

The Challenge: A Branded Asset Experience for Substance 3D

The Substance 3D team needed a secure, internal-only repository experience for their many types of assets—one that was accessible only to employees working on that product line and presented through a branded interface.

The Solution: Content Hub with ABAC

We configured a dedicated user group and ABAC rules, ingested Substance 3D assets into AEM Assets, published them to Content Hub, and curated product-specific Collections for easy discovery.

Creating a Branded Front Door with AEM Sites

To provide a tailored entry experience, we created a simple AEM page that serves as a branded front door into Content Hub, deep-linking users directly to relevant Collections.

Daniel Ticchio, the customer for this project, shared: “We were able to create, coordinate, and consolidate our assets in our own space. We’re excited to enable our stakeholders across the business to hit their goals with the right content. Content Hub helps us drive internal adoption of our marketing assets and get our content in front of our customers more quickly.”

Driving Adoption with Internal Promotion

The Substance 3D team embraced the new experience and even created a sizzle reel to promote it internally, accelerating awareness and adoption.

Managing Access at Scale with Governance Agent

With the Governance Agent, Content Hub admins can now update ABAC rules directly—without engineering support—making governance easier as more teams adopt this model.

Results: One Content Hub, Multiple Branded Experiences

This approach enables multiple branded, role-based experiences from a single Content Hub, reduces duplication, and simplifies ongoing governance.

Key Takeaway

By combining Content Hub, ABAC, and a lightweight AEM Sites front door, teams can deliver secure, branded experiences at scale—without complex custom development.

I kind of always wondered how to make some of these Content Hub elements more roles-based. Great explanation and walkthrough, thank you @dpeterson
