Did You Know? Safely Test in your Preview Sandbox

Have you ever wanted to try a new process, custom form, access level, template-or anything else-without making changes to your production environment?

Did you know that Workfront provides all customers with a test environment so you can safely experiment with new ideas? This test environment is known as the Preview Sandbox . The Preview Sandbox contains your actual production data. It refreshes every weekend, so data can be up to one week behind what's in your production environment. Click into the full blog post here to learn how to access this test environment, how to login and common questions asked about the Preview Sandbox! Hi Nichole, We use our Sandbox 1 environment for most of our testing and therefore don't tend to schedule a refresh too frequently - it would be good to be able to retain the data we build in the test environment even after a refresh as it can be a pain having to re-create it when a refresh has to take place if it's not ready to build out in Production. Also, I think I read something recently about future dev that would mean configuration etc set up in the Sandbox environments could be promoted into Production automatically - did I imagine this as this functionality would be so useful? We often set up client demos in the Sandbox and find ourselves replicating all that work in Production. Many thanks Vikki Gibbs WF System Admin Paragon Customer Communications

Hi Vikki, Perhaps you're recalling reading about our "https://store.atappstore.com/product/packages/" Packages solution, which enables you to efficiently select a set of related Workfront objects and/or data from one environment, save them, and then deploy them to another environment. Each Package can also be "shelved" until needed - even after Sandbox has been refreshed and those related objects and/or data have been overwritten in Sandbox - and then deployed (e.g. back into Sandbox to keep refining and repackaging them, and/or into Production once you are ready). Packages saves an incredible amount of rework, and is particularly valuable for Workfront customers seeking a more efficient and controlled manner to manage migration between federated environments (e.g. Test > User Acceptance > Production). If you'd like more details, I invite you you email me at doug.denhoed@atappstore.com. Regards, Doug Doug Den Hoed - AtAppStore

@Vikki Gibbs There aren't definite plans at the moment, but our team is currently investigating scenarios where Workfront can empower customers to push data from Sandbox to Production, even if with limited capabilities at the moment. Nichole Vargas Customer Programs Specialist, Workfront

Hi Nichole That's good cos this functionality is needed to save all the duplication of work between sandboxes, preview and live and remove the issues that manual replication can bring Would it help focus Workfront on the problem if we raised an Idea Exchange and get customers to vote for it?
