Custom Video blocks (Youtube)

Hey guys, I am trying to use this custom video block from aem assets plugin.

The preview for these blocks are here: https://main--assets-blocks--hlxsites.aem.live/video-block-demo

However, when trying to run them on my local EDS project, I am not seeing the same functionality. This is most likely due to the fact that I don't have AEM Assets and Dynamic Media OpenAPI. Now, I need to build custom video heroes, with custom icons and overlay text blocks, with Youtube hosted videos. Currently I am using the standard Video block, but are there any other solutions or blocks I can use without any additional licenses? Thanks

Yes, you are right. There are prerequisites in https://github.com/adobe-rnd/aem-assets-plugin :

  • You need to have an AEM Assets as a Cloud Service subscription
  • You need to have access to Dynamic Media Open API

Alternatively, try to check Video in block collection:

  1. Vimeo - https://sidekick-library--aem-block-collection--adobe.aem.page/tools/sidekick/library.html?plugin=blocks&path=/block-collection/video&index=0 
  2. YouTube - https://sidekick-library--aem-block-collection--adobe.aem.page/tools/sidekick/library.html?plugin=blocks&path=/block-collection/video&index=1 
  3. MP4 - https://sidekick-library--aem-block-collection--adobe.aem.page/tools/sidekick/library.html?plugin=blocks&path=/block-collection/video&index=3 

Youtube and MP4 are free to use.
