What are specific benefits of upgrading to latest version of AT.JS

Adobe has recommended that we upgrade our AT.JS version to the most up to date version (we are on version 2.2.0). On the documentation, it gives fairly generic benefits of upgrading to latest version. Upgrading will result in significant QA work on live activities and a potential period of time where we have no live activities while we upgrade the AT.JS version.

Are there specific benefits that we could list? Something more tangible would help make the case for upgrading to the various teams involved in this process.

Thank you

you have to be in the latest versions of either 1.x or 2.x to have the fix for bugs and security patches.

Also, what are specific risks if we do not upgrade to latest version from version 2.2.0?

Hello @studley2021, 2.2.0 is 6 years old library.

There are lot of benefits which comes with the most recent library, but not limited to Bug fixes, Improved performance, security enhancements. New features support also added after the 2.2.0 release. Risks are not up to date security enhancement and no new features available, which are released after 2.2.0

Thanks, Krishna. Is there a way to be more specific in each area for "improved performance" and "security enhancements" for the upgrade?

@studley2021  question on "Upgrading will result in significant QA work on live activities and a potential period of time where we have no live activities while we upgrade the AT.JS version."

you can see all version details here

What functional impact do you see if upgrades are done? It is always advisable to go for an upgrade if it includes security patches...

also, your version 2.2 seems to be old [close to 5 years ]compared to the latest : at.js version version 2.11.7

if your org/business okay you can avoid upgrade but plan for it before it is too late
