Tracking custom events in Adobe Target?

A colleague of mine is very experienced using Optimizely, and is new to Adobe Target.

They have asked how to track to track behaviours that can't be measured in pageviews or clicks? In Optimizley they used Custom Events. This article explains the use cases and how its achieved in Optimizely: Custom events in Optimizely X - Optimizely Knowledge Base

How would one achieve this in Adobe Target?

Based on your specific business needs you might want to run this set up by your implementation consultant. However in case you are just looking for additional information here is more information on tracking success metrics in this KB article: Success metrics

The closest would be to leverage the A4T (Analytics for Target Integration) so that you can use any custom metric you have defined in Analytics. Here is more on that integration here: A4T overview

Thanks mikewebguy

Typically that would be the right way to go, but in this instance my colleague cannot use A4T. Adobe Analytics is not available to them and they need to use Adobe Target exclusively as the reporting source

I looked here: adobe.target.trackEvent(options) and although I see how to report on traditional on-click metrics and page views, I don't see any way of reporting on things like:

  • Tracking viewed pop-ups.
  • Content is added to the page as the user moves through a flow
  • Tracking dropoff within forms

My colleague is used to the flexibility of adding custom metrics in Optimizely to achieve this and is struggling to find the equivalent in Adobe Target.

Any help, would be greatly appreciated
