Adobe target cookies falls under which category with GDPR norms

Hi All,

I was performing some checks on the categorisation of cookies and wanted to know if Adobe target cookies fall under which category.

We have these categories - Essential cookies,  Analytical cookies, Functional cookies, and Advertising cookies. I am doubtful if it will fall under Essential cookies OR Analytical cookies and hence looking for some help from the community.

 

My query is specifically for at_check and mbox cookies.

 

Any guidance or pointers would be really appreciated!

    I have already seen the cookie in different categories. Basically, I always recommend that you pass the topic on to your data protection team. This is not much help now - but this way you are on the safe side.

      @perrin_ennen  - Thanks for the info!

      In my case, data team has put at_check cookie as analytical cookie in Onetrust configuration. But, it gets created irrespectivre of user's consent. I was checking for any answer in support of this. Like, it's a correct behavior or something is wrong with the Adobe target extension in data collection platform!

          Hi Everyone,

           

          I have received my answer as - 

          "at_check" is used to determine if a visitor supports cookies and checks if target can work on site. It comes in category of "Functionally Required Cookies" . It is an essential cookie, necessary to make target work. It doesn't store any information. Hence it doesn't violates GDPR/ePrivacy.

           

          "mbox" cookie should be fired after consent is given by customer. In case it is firing before cookie consent then kindly check with your consent management platform i.e OneTrust to make the required changes so that mbox cookie is fired only after consent.
