@aanchal-sikka totally agree! Looking forward to the same. I think it will be extremely helpful after we get access to practice test questions to talk through topics that each of us had trouble with. Then we can help explain to one another and is a great way to heighten our knowledge.

Happy Friday all!

Wanted to start another thread to ask what you all have been focusing on most recently in your Target learnings. I personally still get tripped up on comparing and contrasting Auto-Target and Automated Personalization. I wanted to share this video (found at the bottom of the page) as I found it particularly helpful. Would love to hear from others as well!

Hello @BrittUricchio
Thanks for starting this conversation. I haven't tackled Auto-Target and Automated Personalization yet, but I'm keen to learn more. I'll definitely watch the video you mentioned. Right now, I'm focusing on grasping the fundamentals of Adobe Target. Excited to learn together with everyone!

@BrittUricchio  Thanks for sharing the video. Its pretty helpful.

I am new to Target, so I have started with the courses defined on [0] in following order:

[0]:Experience League | Adobe

Similar to the video, there is a good comparison document in these courses.

https://expleague.azureedge.net/pdf/Adobe-Target-Activities-Guide.pdf?fromCourses=true  It shares guidance on:

Thanks for starting this @BrittUricchio

@aanchal-sikka - That's an amazing PDF.

My thinking around it has been:

  • Auto-Target is more focused on the whole experiences where Automated Personalization is focused on content & offers.  So, for Auto-Target, you need to predefine the experience, basically have the different experiences set-up, and the ML will choose which, amongst them, is best for the user.
  • For Automated Personalization, it's more MVT(ish), where different pieces of content & offers, are shown by the algorithm to the user based off their customer profile. The below image shows it nicely.

AT-vs-AP.jpg

What was also helpful for me was looking at the reporting.  In an Automated Personalization Report, you'll see an "offer level report." You won't see that in an Auto-Target report because it's looking at the entire experience, not offers. In the AT report you'll see how each experience performed.

@designbynumber I LOVE this visual. This is so helpful ... I'm such a visual learner and I appreciate the way you broke it down emphasizing the offers/content part of it. I'm not sure about you all, but seeing it this way makes all the difference!

Happy Friday fellow Target learners

@BrittUricchio that's an interesting way of sharing knowledge and discover learning opportunities for Target.

The document shared by @aanchal-sikka is very helpful and offers a lot of good explanations for allocation and activity types.

Currently, I'm facing some uncertainties in specific implementation use cases:

  1. I'm attempting to configure a redirect offer via VEC (while there are some limitations, they don't apply to this situation according to the documentation). This offer should redirect a user from https://www.domain.com/sale to https://www.domain.com/sale?product_list_order=price_asc. Unfortunately, clicking the QA Link results in an infinite loop, preventing me from testing it. I've tried simply activating the experience, but it didn't seem to work (URL is not redirected). The goal is to determine whether ordering products by ascending price would increase revenue. Any advice?

In relation to this activity, A4T is already set up, and the client wants to use Analytics' Revenue metric as the primary goal metric. Is there any additional setup required to 'attach' these experiences to the Revenue metric within Analytics? In other words, do I need to retrieve the experience information and send it along with the order event, so it will be counted?

  2. Another scenario: the client wants to modify some labels in their main menu, as opposed to their current names (control experience). The goal is to assess whether these changes would result in more clicks on the product sections. We've set up click event listeners so that every time one of those items is clicked, it triggers a regional mbox, whose visualization is the primary activity goal in Target.
For granularity purposes, we've setup a click event in Adobe Analytics and configured a breakdown by menu category in the A4T Panel, enabling the client to see which changes resulted in more clicks.
Is there a way to achieve this level of detail using Target-only capabilities?

Thank you very much!

Hi @Amelia_Waliany is it too late for one of my customers to join the mentor program? Do you have information on how it works? My customers are based in the UK.

Thanks, Michelle
