Reassigning a field to a different field group

Hi there,

We are onboarding more teams into our Adobe Experience Platform, and with that means more cooks in the kitchen. There is a foundational field that another team has taken before we realized and assigned to an improper field group.

Is there a way to

1) reassign the field to a different group

2) If not, I am trying to build a new schema that needs this field name only, which is mixed with 10 other fields in the current field group. What can I do without creating something like fieldnamev2

Thanks.

Hey @akwankl

If you have ingested data into the dataset based on the current schema then you won't be able to rename or move the field as it would be a breaking change.

Same would be the case if you want to use the same filed name in another schemas at the same tree position.

The following link would explain the above in more detail: https://experienceleague.adobe.com/docs/experience-platform/xdm/schema/composition.html?lang=en#evolution

Cheers.

Thanks @abhinavbalooni, was hoping reassigning a field to a different field group wouldn't be considered as a breaking change 😞 .

@akwankl I can understand the frustration but it is a breaking change and would not be allowed when you try saving your changes.
