Why adobe does not support publishing collections OOTB
Collections is a new feature introduced in CQ5.6.1. I wanted to know why adobe does not support publishing collections like how we have for folders in assets.

A collection is simply a view of of the assets as described in this doc topic:

Collection
A collection of assets, either based on physical location (folder), common properties (saved search folder), or user selection (lightbox folders).
It has nothing to do with activating an asset as discussed in this AEM topic:
