Scene7 supports video formats other than mp4?

When uploading flv, wmv, mpeg and avi video formats in dam, it is getting successfully processed by scene7 but when trying to use scene7url for that video (https://domain/is/content/dev/sample) in browser it is getting downloaded instead of playing the video. Whether these formats are supported by scene7. If yes, please help with steps to be followed for these formats in scene7 to make it work.

I see all the formats you have mentioned are supported. When I hit the scene7 url without any preset - https://domain/is/content/dev/sample it also gets downloaded in the browser, but with a video preset, it plays on the browser. https://domain/is/content/dev/sample-0x1080-5000k

Are you using a preset for your videos when you are trying to hit the url in browser or using on your page ?

Are video preset and video profiles are same?

If yes, We have applied "Adaptive video encoding" video profile to our dam folders, which is default for mp4 format and mp4 video formats are working fine, but when other formats are getting downloaded in the browser.

Are we able to reuse the same for other formats of video. Or else should we have to create separate video encoding profile and any specific steps to be followed?

Also will other video formats converted to mp4 automatically in dynamic media scene7 mode?

It is indeed Video Profile, you should be able to reuse the same profiles for other formats as well and you can only use mp4 in your video profiles. The file does not get converted to mp4 on scene7.

What I suggest it to use the Video Encoding Presets when you are trying to use the scene7 url like https://domain/is/content/dev/sample-0x1080-5000k , for this you should have the right preset

Thanks for your clarifications. Others formats are working by adding preset to scene7 url.

I have 2 questions, could you please clarify these as well,

1. Mp4 format was working without adding preset in scene7, Why other formats are not working without preset? Is there any way to make it work without adding preset in scene7 url?

2. If preset is required in scene7 url, how we will get to know which preset should be choose from the list of presets in the screenshot you shared?

1. I could not find any documentation so its a guess -  since the DM primarily supports mp4 files they may work without the parameters.

2. That depends on the screen/device you want the video to be played on, refer the below screenshot -
