Request for Access to AEM (CQ) Jar for Learning Purposes

Hi Team,

I hope this message finds you well.

I previously worked as an AEM developer during my time at an organization, but for the past five years, I have been primarily focused on Spring Boot and microservices development. I am currently not affiliated with any organization and am looking to refresh and update my knowledge of AEM to explore opportunities in this space again.

However, I’m encountering difficulties accessing the AEM (CQ) jar file, which I previously had access to via my company credentials. As I no longer have access to a corporate account, I am unable to download the necessary files to set up a local environment for learning and practice.

Could you please advise if there is any way to obtain the AEM jar for personal learning purposes or if there are any alternative options available to help me get started?

Thank you for your time and assistance.

Best regards.

Hi @harshasi,

Unfortunately, here's the hard truth about the AEM jar file:

AEM Jar Access: Not Publicly Available

Adobe does not provide AEM jar files (Quickstart JAR) for public download, even for learning or evaluation purposes. Access is strictly limited to:

  • Customers with an active Adobe Experience Manager license

  • Partners in Adobe’s partner network (via Solution Partner Portal)

  • Employees of companies that have an AEM contract

Since you're currently unaffiliated with an organization that has an AEM license, there’s no legal way to download or use the AEM jar for personal setup.

You can instead do: Use the WKND Sample Site on AEM as a Cloud Service (Free Trial Option)

Adobe offers a Cloud Service-based WKND tutorial with GitHub-based code and structured walkthroughs:

You don’t need to run AEM locally to follow the tutorial and understand AEMaaCS concepts (Core Components, Sling Models, Editable Templates, etc.).

Hi @harshasi ,

You can only get the AEM jar through an organization that has an active Adobe license. Adobe does not provide AEM jars for personal use or trial. To access it legally, you must be part of a licensed company or Adobe partner.
