InDesign functions within AEM

Hi I would like to know the scope of functions that can be ported over

from InDesign to AEM. We have InDesign server already set up so wondering if we can

access InDesign API's through there and create a workflows which would

be able to do some custom functions.

Some functions we want to implement.

  • XML Export (Need API to have access to tags within InDesign)
  • Version control of INDD files ( I know AEM has this feature already) with access to editors, writers, designers etc.
  • Management of metadata associated with InDesign

The bigger picture here is we want to streamline multiple brands of magazine into a unified workflow

and fully harness the power of AEM to do this. Just want some support on how feasible is this idea.

Thanks!

As far as metadata management is concerned AEM has built in metadata extraction and write back.  AEM can be configured to expose metadata within the Assets editor so it can be viewed/updated.

Here is general information on Metadata Management:
https://docs.adobe.com/docs/en/aem/6-1/administer/content/assets/metadata.html

In terms of INDD here are the asset management features that are supported (Look for INDD):

Also, here is some information on the integration of AEM with InDesign Server:

Thank you all for the answers.

Another question arises. The compatibility of Adobe CC

with AEM 6.1. Am I able to edit a files in the DAM in CC then save back into the

DAM, thus creating a new version of it?
